In The Studio - Friday

It's been a really fun week here at the mosaic table!

The coffeepot now has beautiful dish shards, millefiori and 1/2 glass circles on it. I'm considering making it into an incense holder and putting a candle inside when it's not used for incense.

Moving on to the actual coffeemaker now. Again it might have a design on it or I might just continue with the fun randomness of the project.

This pot is now in the "to be grouted" pile.

Hope you all have a happy and safe 4th of July!

In The Studio - Wednesday

I've been standing at the table a lot this week, nipping up dish tiles for the next project.

A few weeks ago, my coffeemaker stopped working. I was very sad and told it how much I appreciated all it's hard work as I unplugged it for the last time. RIP coffeemaker. But now ... it's too large to just toss and as always I like to find new ways to use old items, so why not do something with these pieces?

I haven't yet started on the actual coffeemaker, but I am planning on putting some mosaic magic all over it soon enough!

Right now, I'm working on the aluminum pot. Gotta say, what I see in my head for this when it's finished getting some mosaic goodness, is kind of cool. Sometimes the muse takes me in a different direction from where I start out, so we'll see how it goes.

I drew a simple design on this but might just ignore it and go for it, glue and slap any old which way!

As you can see at the top, in the background, 2 candle holders and a switch plate are resting/drying, waiting for grout. Meanwhile, I'm nipping up all kinds of dish pieces. Fun stuff!

Let's Go Shopping!

Lotus Mosaic Wall Art, Mosaic Wall Hanging, Bohemian Art, Hippie Decor, For The Home, Wedding, Birthday, Great Gift, Anniversary, Retirement - $50.00 USD
One of my all-time favorite designs to draw and make into mosaics is the lotus. This mosaic has stained glass in iridescent pink, pieces of a broken lamp in pink, green and purple, some bright green glass tiles, stained glass in green, mirror, ball chain, and small plastic flowers. Lots to see in this 8 x 10 inch wall art.

Bohemian in nature, this has a soothing quality to it, especially when near sunlight. It is very sparkly and shines brightly making even the most gloomy of days extra special and will make you smile. Meditate with it near you to feel the good vibrations. Namaste!

I couldn't decide which way I wanted it to hang, which is why there are no photos of it hanging on the wall. It looks great vertically as well as horizontally. Therefore, there is a hanger and hardware taped to the back of this piece waiting for your decision. You can request I add it before I send it out to you and in which direction you'd like it or the hardware can be included for you. It's not too difficult to attach the hardware and string once you've seen it in person. Don't forgot to include this info when you purchase this beauty. Thank you!

In The Studio - Friday

It has been a fairly productive week. Yesterday, I had one of the best days I've had in a long time. The humidity didn't slow me down as I did what needed to be done. I thought I'd share how it went through photos and captions. Enjoy!

Sunrise through storm clouds.

Baby having a nap and yes, she tucks herself in.
Finished getting glass on the purple candle holder.
Made a birthday card for my 2nd child who is turning 30 soon. Yikes!

In The Studio - Wednesday

It's been a fun week so far here In The Studio. I've been sorting through a little bit of glass but the muse is wide awake and wants to play so sorting was pushed aside and I continued on the purple stained glass candle holder a little more.

While I've been having fun at the table, I made a few sales this week. One new lucky customer purchased a switch plate cover and a cover set (outlet & switch plate). These will be headed out at the end of week toward their new home.

In keeping with my promise not to add too many listings all at once on Etsy, I will be adding a few more switch plate covers from my stock at some point today. Woohoo!

Let's Go Shopping!

Stained Glass Mosaic Vase, Mosaic Vase, Mosaic Flower Holder, Mosaic Candle Holder, Kitchen Decor, Wedding, Birthday, Gift - 7 x 3 inches - $45.00 USD

Look at all the colors I used in stained glass on this vase! There are pieces from a broken lamp in lime green, pink and purple, mixed in with bright glass dots in white, green and black. Deep purple stained glass, a warm lighter color in purple, dark pink. It all blends so nicely together and really has a sense of drama attached to it. We love it!

The light play from sun or candlelight is intense and truly quite beautiful. Flowers look beautiful in this vase or it can sit on a shelf or windowsill and shine on it's own. The placement of this vase will determine the mood of the moment.

We love useful and decorative art. Perfect!! These make great gifts. Give that hard to shop for person or gift yourself! You deserve it!!

This vase is handmade with love and one of my favorite mosaic decor items to create and give.

DO NOT SUBMERGE IN WATER.

In The Studio - Friday

Mosaic stained glass candle holder fun continues as the week winds down. We had a hot few days and I did nothing but try to keep myself and the poor kitty cat cool. Yesterday Mother Nature gave us a break from the humidity and the high temps and both of us were able to be a little more productive. Well, one of us was more productive. One of us seemed to be enjoying the a/c while napping on her pillow while I worked.

Work-in-progress 3 inch candle holder.

I have become so conditioned to working in a small space, using the entire table to work on seems unnatural. Half of the table has scrap glass containers and a few boxes to be sorted when I am not working on a mosaic.

Some of this scrap glass is already sorted and in jars. Every time I put the jars back on the shelves, I find as I'm sorting through the next container a lot more of the glass I just put away on the shelves. Seems more productive to leave them here until I've gone through it all.

Tiles and glass are in this box. Luckily I have a dedicated space for tiles now! Yay!

When the candle holder I'm working on is ready for grout, I'll probably continue working on sorting glass.

Purples, yellow and orange. I think the room I'm living in has dictated the color choices I'm using these days!

Happy Father's Day to all those lucky men who love a child enough to be called Dad.

In The Studio - Wednesday

I've been having fun creating this week. It's been such a long time since I've had a dedicated flat surface to work on. I used TV trays and a wonky side table for years and had managed to create many wonderful mosaics on them. I proved to myself that I didn't need a large studio with all the bells and whistles (although who doesn't want one of those?!???) to make art. I'm proud of all I've accomplished over the years. Here are a few things I created on a small TV tray and a wonky side table just to show you what can be done if you've got a mind to do it!

Today, I have been making small candle holders. I need to get back into the groove of 3-D glass-on-glass mosaics. The first one I just finished is now in the "to be grouted" pile. It isn't the best job I've ever done ... dealing with arthritis in my left hand and not having done these for a while took a little bit of a learning curve to figure out. But I did it!

I used blue and purple stained glass in lots of different hues for this candle holder.

This is now sitting in the "to be grouted" pile.

Waiting for the glue to dry was probably the hardest part. Luckily now that I have slightly more space in my room I was able to put it aside and start in on the next one right away. What a great feeling that is!

Purple, yellow and orange candle holder being gifted when it's finished.

Although I see tons of flaws, the fact that grout will fix most of them makes me relax and enjoy the process of gluing glass on glass. Thank goodness for grout!!

I have some new projects coming up but I am going to continue making candle holders as often as I can. All, if not gifted or donated, will be listed on Etsy as they are completed.

Hope you have a great week!

Let's Go Shopping!

Mosaic Bowl, Stained Glass, Mosaic, Glass Tiles, Orange, Light Brown, Tan, Blue, Bowl, For The Home, Housewarming, Great Gift-7 x 2.5 Inches - $50.00 USD

I've added some mosaic magic to an old discarded ceramic serving bowl. Simple designs in orange, amber and brown in glass and ceramic tiles cover the inside giving it an updated look.

I'm very proud of creating useful art. Here's a great example of how to recycle and reuse something. By recycling this bowl I've conserved valuable natural resources and saved something that would otherwise be buried in a landfill.

Give this as a wedding gift, offering the happy couple a sustainable gift as you hope their union will be. This should last for years if cared for properly. Add it to any room in your home. It can be used to hold stuff and things but remember it is first and foremost a piece of art.

Set it in the center of a table to make a statement. Place it at the door to let your friends and family see it the very minute they enter your home. Make a statement and always consider buying from an artisan. Support handmade.

Decorative purposes only. Not for long term storage for food or liquids. To clean this bowl you can run it under warm water with mild soap if necessary and wipe out with a damp sponge. Do NOT use harsh chemicals. Do NOT place in dishwasher or submerge in water.

This awesome bowl measures 2.5 inches high and 7 inches wide.
