In The Studio - Wednesday

I zipped through the 2nd mosaic I needed to do for the fund raiser donation reward this past week. It took 2 days!

End of day 1.

Working on an abstract this time was really easy for me. I am most comfortable using these colors and doing abstract designs, for sure.

End of day 2.
I'm probably going to grout both the beach scene and this one at the end of the week. I'll share photos when I do!

After I moved, some of my online friends reached out and asked if I needed anything, supplies wise, to get me back on my feet. Such sweet gestures and really appreciated, the first person said they had a few things in their garage they wanted to share with me and sent me a nice box filled with goodies. Some of which I used in the mosaics I just made.

It's always fun to get surprise packages in the mail!

Everything will get used eventually. Shortly after this one arrived, another online friend reminded me she owed me an exchange gift from many years ago and wanted to know if I needed anything in particular or if I wanted her to make me something? I told her honestly, I needed glue! I was finding some of my glass and dish shard stash, I found substrates and my tools. But I never found the glue! Somewhere there is a bottle floating around either in storage or is now long gone but it's not with me. After chatting with her for a bit through messages on Facebook, she sent me a message saying a box was on it's way. She lives in Canada. It took no time at all to get to me!

She handmade a cowl scarf in a favorite color for me last year when I was wearing a lot of scarves (it feels so good against my neck, I love it!), she sent me a mosaic she made, coloring book and pencils, note pads, a journal, small tags to use for gifts after coloring them and FOUR bottles of glue!!
I just can't tell you how blessed I feel. I am one lucky ducky to have online friends this giving. I've never, ever come across a sweeter bunch of people as the artists who create mosaics.

I'll share another post when I do some grouting!

In The Studio - Part One

There's always something going on, In The Studio. This week I'm doing small things waiting for some grout I ordered online to arrive to finish up the custom order.

Here's the small pile that's quickly turning into a large pile of mosaics ready to be grouted.

Two were pulled from this pile to grout and are shared below. I discovered two others to add to it, however! No pictures of these at the moment, but the cardboard house mosaic I made a while ago and the very large flower power sphere both need some grout.

I love this star wall art! Made with stained glass and mirror, swirls in nano ceramic tiles.

An old PS2 has been turned into art that will probably always be a family treasure.

I put tiles along the outer edge of the custom ordered peace sign. Now it waits for grout to arrive.
Every day this week we have thunderstorms or rain. No wonder I no longer sleep. It's been a very painful week between arthritis, sciatica and a muscle spasm.

One of my recent drawings in ink and marker. Waiting for the perfect frame.
Waiting for grout: 3 inch star, 6 inches each moon and sun wall art - will be sold as a set
Also waiting for grout: 6 inch rocket ship.
#20 cross of 25 crosses. I started this challenge over 2 years ago. Interested tidbit of info - the biggest seller in crosses is the scrap glass ones. I guess I'll make a few more of those with the last 5 I've left to mosaic.

In The Studio - Part One

The studio has been a little slow this week. I've had a lot of pain and not much sleep. Staying away from tools and items that cut you on a good day is always a good policy of mine. However, I have finished getting glass on the cutting board and it looks really great.

I'm going to use that wonderful blue "starry night" grout for this piece. I am thrilled that this has been put aside for a dear friend who wants to purchase it as soon as she can. Woo-hoo!

Lots of drawing is going on these days.

Sadly, I'm still waiting for my pens to arrive. Getting these things to me has been a real roller coaster. When I originally ordered them, they were left out of the box by the art supply store. After calling them and letting them know I never got them, they apologized politely and sent them out again. The delivery service sent me updates letting me know it was delivered however I didn't get them. Yesterday I made some phone calls to the delivery service who tells me it's possible they went to the wrong building OR they went to the leasing office. They are checking with the driver and that takes 48 hours to do. The suggestion was made to call the leasing office to see if they have it. Hopefully that is the case and someone can go get them for me because I can't get down the stairs (we live on the 2nd floor) at the moment due to my physical problems. Being unable to just walk to the store to get them to begin with definitely has its disadvantages.

The saga continues ...

In The Studio - Part One

Working in the Super Secret Mosaics Lab has made it hard for me to share what I'm doing each week at the crafts table. I do, however, have more doodles and drawings to share in all stages of progress from completed to waiting for the pens and watercolor crayons I ordered to arrive.

Tapestry Doodle

One of my favorites - waiting for pens to finish

I haven't decided if this one is finished

moon and stars in pencil - waiting for pens to finish

Doodle sun

dandelion. doodle dot

I think I'm getting pretty good with these and finding my own style as I go. I think the moon and stars is probably the best drawing I've done within the last 6 weeks of this new adventure in doodle dot drawings.

In The Studio - Part One

While the weather has been giving my physical body some challenges these days I am happy to say my creative muse and I are still getting along famously!

I would love to share what I've done so far on the 10 mosaics I'm gifting through Facebook but I'm afraid someone who is getting one will see this post. I really want them all to be a surprise, but I can at least give a sneak peek of the first one I did over the weekend.

Mosaics done on artist blocks, 4 x 4 inches, covering the flat surface and sides with awesome mosaic magic has been a lot of fun. I am keeping the designs on the flat surface fairly simple but they are looking fantastic so far. Grouting will be done once they are completely finished, doing 2 or 3 at a sitting until they are all finished. So far I've gotten 3 made. That leaves 7 more to go!

Once gifted and received, I'll definitely share them here as I often do, pre-grout and grouted. Keep an eye out for that!

Meanwhile I can share my doodle making which has been more or less daily. I noticed on Friday that my painted doodle showed the pain I was in so well. I didn't really see it as I was painting it, but once finished, it really is evident. You can see I hurt!

Can you see the pain I am feeling from this painting like I can?

Wouldn't one or all of these look great as a tote bag or tee shirt?? I'm going to try to get a better photo of the last one shown here and get it on Society6.

late night doodling

Finished!

The cat clock is grouted and looking good. Unfortunately the clock mechanism doesn't fit the slot cut in the back at all (the mechanism is too big) so I'll be doing some investing in different sizes to see if I can find a kit that fits. If I can't, I'll have to glue the hands in place and call it finished. Either way, I do love the flower power this cool cat is wearing with style.
