Wednesday - What Day?

Wednesday - What Day? Means I want to share things but I'm not sure exactly what. So, until I know, Wednesday's are going to be devoted to different things each week, probably. There's a possibility posts might not even happen some weeks.

This week, I thought I'd share the sales I've had since the beginning of the year. They are all exciting and much appreciated. I'm grateful to any customer who takes the time to write a short note or review after they've received their mosaic. You can read reviews through my Etsy shop.

Here are the mosaics sold, oldest to newest.

Purchased in January, this Mosaic Switch Plate has Stained Glass, Van Gogh Glass and ball chain. I call it "Fire Star". Nifty, right?!

Purchased in February, this Green Apple Mosaic Wall Art made a new customer very happy. I learned she too is a mosaic artist. That makes it even more special! This design was based on a bowl I put mosaic in many years ago and use often as my logo.

Next up, purchased in March, this Mosaic Gazing Ball, "Peace, Love and Happiness" went to a customer in Texarkana. It has a peace sign, a heart and a flower on it. Very unique and many hours of gluing and patiently waiting for it to dry so it could be turned. I love sending these mosaics out throughout the USA. I say a grateful prayer as I send them on their way each time. This Gazing Ball was a especially fun to make.

And last, was a sale I got this week on Tuesday. The newest peace sign to join the shop. They never stay around for very long. Not that I'm complaining! Made with pieces of scrap glass, mirror and Millefiori and is 6 inches in size.

And that's it for now. Next Wednesday I'm sure I'll have something else to share. Maybe doodles because I've been doing them a lot at the moment.

WIP Wednesday - Gazing Ball and Refrigerator Woes

This has been an unusual week for me. My fridge/freezer here in the attic decided it's no longer going to work. I had to cook everything from the freezer that I could and tossed out quite a bit of food. Since I was raised by depression era people, you know that was almost painful to do. The good news is I have the means to get another fridge/freezer almost identical to what I had and to fill it up pretty well with fresh food once it arrives. Life is definitely challenging but it's all good!

What the above means for me is no mosaic time. Once things settle again, I'll have new work to share. However, here's where I left off ...

The last time I shared this gazing ball here on my blog it was very close to finished. It's now resting comfortably, waiting patiently for me to grout it all in black.

I really like the different tesserae I used here but it will be a bit of a challenge to grout because none of it is the same thickness. I run across that a lot and sometimes the sides of the dish tiles stay ungrouted just because there's nothing for the grout to grab a hold of. Usually it works out okay and isn't too obvious but sometimes it can bug me for a really long time until I try to do something to fix it.

Here's hoping I am okay with it, once it's grouted, because I'd like to put this in my Etsy shop.

Tomorrow is Theme Thursday. I'm really enjoying tying the theme to the Fabulous Friday posts. I hope you enjoy them too.

WIP Wednesday - Gazing Ball

I've been working fairly steadily on the gazing ball this week. It's coming along very nicely and should be resting in the "to be grouted" pile very soon.

It's going to look fantastic with black grout on it! Can't wait to see it become a finished mosaic. This will be available on my Etsy shop soon (this is for indoor use only due to the glue I used).

WIP Wednesday - Gazing Ball

I have gotten all three spaces filled in with stained glass this week. The heart, the flower and the peace sign are complete. Now I've started filling in the areas using dish tiles. I took photos of each area done in glass to see if the dish tiles would work. I like the way it looks so far, which is a very good thing. Below are photos of the progress as of Tuesday evening. I shared the heart last week, but am showing it here again along with the flower and peace sign.

Making sure the dish tiles look okay was the reason for these photos. I think they work well!

I started adding the tiles within the peace sign before finishing up for the day yesterday.

WIP Wednesday - The Tower of Now and a Gazing Ball

More progress was done with the tower but only to grout what I had finished so far. I had extra grout left over from grouting the Cornflower Sun and the Patchwork Peace Sign and didn't want to waste it.

I'm working on taking good photos to list the sun and peace sign. When I do, I'll share the listings once they're available.

Up next, on the table this week, is a gazing ball. This has a heart, a flower and a peace sign drawn on it. So far, the heart is the only thing finished.

Hopefully it won't be long before this one is in the grout pile.

Promo Blast!

I'm so proud to share this mosaic with you all today. It has been a true labor of love. It took years to work on from start to finish and is finally polished up and ready to go!

Mosaic Gazing Ball, Stained Glass, Broken China, Mirror - 15.5 Inches - $150.00

Isn't this mosaic sphere amazing?! It is the biggest one I've ever done and I think it's magnificent.

Groovy flowers filled with broken china also known as pique assiette which describes a style of mosaic that incorporates pieces of broken ceramics - plates, dishes, cups, tiles - and other found objects into the design. I've painted some sections with acrylics and added glitter, then covered it with tempered or crash glass. Mirror, stained glass, glass half circles are here as well. Van Gogh glass, iridescent glass, vintage china, old pieces of mirror, new colored mirror ... almost everything I had went into this one.

It took two long sessions to grout. Hours to clean. It weighs a hefty 8 pounds, 10 ounces.

Using mosaic gazing balls to help you relax and calm you is an old trick of mine. Place it in a sunny spot and allow the sparkle from the mirror and iridescent stained glass toss rays of light around you. Surround yourself with light and beauty. Breath deeply and inhale the calming effect this beautiful sphere brings your way.

It can be placed in a corner of a well-lit room on a pedestal or stand of your choosing (not included). This is not water or weather proof but can be placed in a spot protected from the elements outdoors in inclement weather.

Measures 15.5 inches

In The Studio - Wednesday

You may have noticed I changed the name of these posts to "Wednesday" and the next, if I have another for the week will say "Friday". I had "Part One" and "Part Two" for a long time but rarely do I manage to do two In The Studio posts these days. Why put a part one when they might not be a part two?? Duh.

I have been busy making a zombie. I do love how this turned out and now I'm working on the frame which will get some cement added to it soon. It didn't turn out exactly as I had anticipated but considering it's only 6 inches with a lot of detail, I'm okay with it. Hopefully the Little Dude will love it!

"Plants vs. Zombies" mosaic - a PopCap game favorite
I glued on the "vs." on the tiny tombstone from a piece of paper I used as a guide to make the mosaic.
The frame and back piece will get some cement slathered on, then it all gets glued together with hanging gear on it.

I have a small "to be grouted" pile now and I'm quite happy about that. I have slowed up making items for the shops since my focus has been on gifts for the family. This kitty wall hanging and useful trivet will be grouted next. It goes to my daughter and son-in-law in Illinois this holiday season.

The two kitties here on the mosaic represent their furbabies. Aren't they cute?!

I do have a few things in the grout pile for the shop too.

This is a hanging candle holder done in deep purple stained glass. It will be grouted white.
I'm hoping to get some LED lights to place inside. That way there's no chance of a fire should it get knocked over or hit as it's hanging. The fancy blue on top and bottom of this holder is painters tape to help guide the grout for me when it comes time. I had an experience recently where I put tape on the bottom of a vase and it was crooked. It isn't all that noticeable but I am one of those people who walks into a room and sees crooked things on the wall and cringes. I am thinking the Universe is laughing and allowed me to make this vase in this way so that I can get over that touch of OCD to look beyond the less than straight line and see the beauty just as it is. *Sigh*.

I am not sure if I shared these previously, but they are obviously an outlet and switch plate cover set. I don't know why it took me so long to offer up a set instead of individual pieces. Again I *sigh*.

This set will be grouted and listed. I'm fairly sure they will be grouted in light brown.
Remember the large gazing ball I made awhile back? No? That's okay if you don't. I almost forgot about it myself. It's been sitting in a box in a corner for the longest time and I think it's time to come out and be seen!! Flower Power at it's best!! I haven't finished grouting it yet. That will change soon and this too will be available for purchase.

This part is grouted ...
... but turned just a bit and you can see where the grout stops!
It is a beauty, isn't it?! This sphere measures 15.5 inches and has so much tessarae! Stained glass, mirror, glass gems, tempered glass (paint and glitter under it) and dish tiles too. It's really one of those mosaics you need to see in person to appreciate it. Check out this glam shot:

I'm pretty sure I'm going to add my moniker to the bottom of this and use it eventually for business cards. What do you think?

In The Studio - Part One

As I suspected, working on this 15 inch sphere is taking a while. I've taken photos daily of the work-in-progress. Once it's finished, I hope I can find a proper stand for it. Displaying this awesome sphere could be a bit of a challenge. I love how it's turning out so far!
