Friday - Bits and Pieces

It's now Friday and I'm not really sure I have enough to share in a post, but I'll try.

How about our lovely wild rose bush that has bloomed many times over the past 6 months or so?! It's still hanging in there! 

 

I clipped a few and added them to my flowers from my birthday which are fading as well but not yet gone!

 Now as far as the art table goes and what's been done; I think I have a few things to show.

This is one of the watercolor pages I shared on Wednesday. Following the flow of the color, more or less, I found this to look Industrial.

Cutting it up made me decide to use the bottom right as a fireplace or something relating to glass-blowing or an oven of some sort. The top right looks like it could be the outside of a building or an amphitheater maybe ... an entrance to a building for sure. And the smaller strips on the left could be wires and a building. I'll do some playing with these when the energy permits.

 

Someone in a reel somewhere shared taping up a page and doodling small designs within the tape. I had painters tape handy and did use it for this. I also have Washi tape so I'll try using some of that as well. Makes me feel accomplished without overtaxing my brain on low energy days!

This is the collage art book I started in August. There's only a few pages in it so far. I'm okay with that, I allow myself to be pulled toward what I feel. Often it's cards or the painted papers. In any case, I am going to try to use these strips for the top one as well in a different design. I'm thinking vertical since many on the bottom are horizontal.

If the mosaic muse wakes from her nap soon, I'll probably do a little more on the mosaic panels. I'm about half way finished. Yay!

I'm so proud to share this mosaic with you all today. It has been a true labor of love. It took years to work on from start to finish and is finally polished up and ready to go!

Mosaic Gazing Ball, Stained Glass, Broken China, Mirror - 15.5 Inches - $150.00

Isn't this mosaic sphere amazing?! It is the biggest one I've ever done and I think it's magnificent.

Groovy flowers filled with broken china also known as pique assiette which describes a style of mosaic that incorporates pieces of broken ceramics - plates, dishes, cups, tiles - and other found objects into the design. I've painted some sections with acrylics and added glitter, then covered it with tempered or crash glass. Mirror, stained glass, glass half circles are here as well. Van Gogh glass, iridescent glass, vintage china, old pieces of mirror, new colored mirror ... almost everything I had went into this one.

It took two long sessions to grout. Hours to clean. It weighs a hefty 8 pounds, 10 ounces.

Using mosaic gazing balls to help you relax and calm you is an old trick of mine. Place it in a sunny spot and allow the sparkle from the mirror and iridescent stained glass toss rays of light around you. Surround yourself with light and beauty. Breath deeply and inhale the calming effect this beautiful sphere brings your way.

It can be placed in a corner of a well-lit room on a pedestal or stand of your choosing (not included). This is not water or weather proof but can be placed in a spot protected from the elements outdoors in inclement weather.

Retro Flower Power Stained Glass Mosaic Pitcher - 6 Inches

 

 

Bright flowers in orange, green and blue wrap around the pitcher in stained glass and mirror. I call this design Flower Power. It makes me happy and keeps me smiling. This was a groovy project to do.

 

 

 

Decorative yet useful art is my favorite kind of art to make. Use in the kitchen to hold your cooking utensils, fill it up with flowers and place in the center of a table in any room in your home. Could even hold brushes and combs in the bathroom. This can be for anyone, at any age, placed in any room.

 

Measures 6 inches high, 3.5 inches wide and 4.5 inches long.

 

 

 

I gave the soft cream colored vintage pitcher an updated look. There are no markings on the bottom of the pitcher but the original felt "feet" are still in place.

 

I am proud to take forgotten items and create a beautiful, useful piece of art like this one. It is a delight to share with you all the joy I have when I give new purpose to old pieces.

 

 

DO NOT SUBMERGE IN WATER OR RUN THROUGH DISHWASHER.

 

WARNING: temperature changes could crack the grout and pop the mosaic pieces off. Not recommended for outdoor use where temperatures reach below zero as they sometimes do here in Pennsylvania.

Mid Century Modern Mosaic Wood Wall Hanging, Blue and White - 16 x 7 Inches - $160.00

Blue and white stained glass hand cut to fit a wooden trivet wall hanging made by my father in the 1950's. Mid Century Modern in shape and design. Blue and white flowers in the center. A small piece of rawhide is added to the top for hanging. Grouted in white.

The bottom has 3 hand whittled pegs to keep from hitting the wall when hung and to protect furniture when placed on a table. This can be used to hold a few glasses or a candle or two. Not recommended for food.

We love it as wall art and think it's best hanging in a kitchen or entryway. Perfect gift for newlyweds or newly retired. Measures 16 x 7 Inches.

Pass the Mustard, Please

I love the color yellow. In all hues. It's beautiful. I am going to have to use it more often in my work because it makes me smile. It's still not a good color for me to wear however according to a chart that tells me such things. But I'm almost at that age where it might no longer matter and I can wear it anyway just because I love it. Woo-hoo.
