Promo Blast!

Blue and Light Brown Mosaic Bowl

I've added some mosaic magic to a sponge painted ceramic bowl. Simple design in blue and light brown in glass and ceramic tiles plus an Italian stained glass called Smalti are covered to the inside of the sponge painted bowl (circa 1990's).

Decorative purposes only. Not for long term storage for food or liquids.

I'm very proud of creating useful art. Here's a great example of how to recycle and reuse something. By recycling this bowl I've conserved valuable natural resources and saved something that would otherwise be buried in a landfill.

To clean this bowl you can run it under warm water with mild soap if necessary and wipe out with a damp sponge. Do NOT use harsh chemicals. Do NOT place in dishwasher or submerge in water.

This awesome bowl measures 4 inches high and 7 inches wide.

Treasury Fun

I know this is crazy but I belong to 50 Etsy Teams and counting. I'm not saying this is a normal way to do things, but what I have found is that widening my horizons within my Etsy community is never a bad thing. I meet new people, find new shops to love and feature here on the blog, and even find a way to share the love through treasuries every so often.

This week my shop was chosen to get some extra hearts from the Drumming Up Business (DUB) Team. This team is one of my favorites; I do have a few and that too is expanding because as I learn about new shops and new teams to join, I also learn the "we got your back" feeling is also an expanding thing. I love it and I love my teams!

As a way to thank those that participated in giving my shop some extra love this week, I am going to be making treasuries dedicated to each shop. It may take a while to get through them all, but it is so worth it.

First up is "Splendor In The Green" for the shop LittlestSister and I placed an item from her shop in the first slot in my treasury.

Splendor In The Green

When I make a treasury, I always share it with the teams that love to see treasuries on Etsy, on my Facebook Page, through Google+, Twitter, tumblr and Pinterest. I also add an item on Wanelo once in a while which will be the case for each of the wonderful teammates who gave my shop and many items some love for a few days. Click on any of the sites I mentioned here if you're a follower of any or all and connect!

Featured Shop - FrankieandMyrrh

FrankieandMyrrh

Frankie & Myrrh

Hippie Go Lucky
Finding a shop that caters to me personally is a big deal. I am all about aromatherapy; have been since the early 1970's and the strawberry incense I found in New Hope, PA became a part of my daily life. I also learned that I am a patchouli girl! That has always been my "go to" scent to make myself feel better.

It makes no difference how old I am, there have been scents associated with calming me, waking me, mellowing me out. I am delighted to have found a shop that caters to people of all ages with all kinds of needs.

Aromatherapy is for everyone of every age and I recommend this shop highly to find exactly what you are looking for to help you with your daily stresses or a child's fears. What a great gift any of these would make!

When I discovered a shop that had sprays entitled "Spray The Bitch Away" and "Hippie Go Lucky" I knew I found a kindred spirit in Kim Wong and FrankieandMyrrh.

Aromatherapy Spray for PMS Symptoms, Bitch Days, and Hot Flashes

It is my utmost goal this year to sell enough mosaics to take advantage of their buy 3 sprays, get 1 free! You can mix and match however you like. Oh joy of joys! With this deal, you can use the coupon code "hookmeup" for a free bottle with free shipping. Purchase 4 bottles and just enter in the coupon code.

Each spray has a specific purpose and are all extremely affordable. "Mosquito Retreato" helps keep mosquitos at bay. "Hottie By Nature" was the first spray Kim developed. In her own words: "It is a fruity, citrus smell with hints of wood and Vanilla. I call it my 'anti-drama queen' spray. When I smell it, I just find it hard to be a bitch."

In The Studio

Things have been uneventful this week, more or less, In The Studio. The muse is resting, giving my body a chance to recoup from some middle aged aches and pains due to drastic weather temp changes. She is good to me but Mother Nature ... not so much.

When the muse and I have rested, we'll have some grouting to start with.

Ocean Bottle Challenge for GOG Group on FB
Mosaic Lighthouse in stained glass
Kikkoman soy sauce bottle - stained glass and broken china mosaic

Starbucks Ice Coffee bottle - now has the strap glass mosaic treatment

Once the above are all grouted, I have a few new projects to start. I mentioned last week that I had gifts to make for April. I have figured out the baby shower gifts (I need two), so I've prepped the substrates for those.

I also was given many, many, MANY cookie jars from a friend of my daughter who collected them for quite some time probably starting in the 1990's. After doing some extensive research on them, I've found perhaps a half a dozen that are collectible. The rest can be covered or smashed to my delight! But it will take a good long time to do that. I'm not kidding ... we've got at least 50 of them in boxes ... ah the life of a mosaics artist who loves to use things in a new way.

The thought behind my "Wish Upon's" is quite simple. Write a wish (small or large) on a piece of paper, put it into the box, believe it can and trust it will come true.

Wish, Believe, Trust, Receive.

Those who believe in magical creatures and little spirits can give them a beautiful mosaic star box to watch over you tucking them away with your wish while you dream.

"Wish Upon's" are not only decorative but they are functional and can hold more than dreams. The small one holds tiny trinkets, push pins, paper clips, fairy dust, etc. They can liven any room in your home, make great gifts or can be placed at your desk in your office if you'd like to gift yourself!

The idea for "Wish Upon's" came to me when I was thinking about making my New Years' Resolutions for 2011. I wrote down a few things and thought how cool it would be to put them in a box or container in the form of a wish. Not only would I believe they could come true, I can trust that they would. By allowing the Universe to take care of these things, we can rest assured we will receive them in time. If you allow these pretty mosaic boxes to hold your dreams while you continue to believe in your goals, nothing is impossible.

My mosaic star box called "Wish Upon's" was crafted using all hand cut stained glass in black iridescent glass that shines in the light in a range from yellow to purple and every color in between, just like a rainbow. It's absolutely beautiful. Grouted in white.

The sides of the top and the base are covered in silver mirror cut to fit and grouted in gray. An acrylic paint is added to the base as well as small felt feet to protect your furniture when placed on a table or dresser.

Including with this pretty mosaic box is a tempered glass pendant called "WISH" filled with glitter and sparkle perfect for anyone on your gift list this year. This pendant comes with a 20 inch small ball chain silver plated necklace.

This set is so cool. Everyone needs to make wishes!
