In The Studio - Wednesday

What a great birthday week I had! The best part is, it continues as the weekend approaches. This weekend we'll be having a gathering of family for lots of foods and good times. I'm really looking forward to it!

I was gifted with a fantastic bottle of wine on Friday (my official birthday). This is Apothic Inferno and it's delicious! Limited addition, aged in whiskey barrels for 60 days, it has that smooth sensation as it goes down just like whiskey. I'm not a huge fan of whiskey but I am a huge fan of red wine and Apothic. I completely enjoyed it. It's been added to the list the next time I get my wine order within the next few days!! Woo-hoo!

I gifted myself and got an additional vinyl wall decal to go with this one that my daughter and I put up on my wall recently.

This one is over my door and what I see as I leave the attic each day to visit with my family "below deck" as I like to say.

Meanwhile, I have been at the mosaics table now and then in between the heat we've been having here in Bucks County, PA. Nobody tells Mother Nature what to do, so we'll just wait for her to decide to cool things off a bit.

I've started on the next candle holder and I'm loving how it's looking already. A blue moon with a purple night sky along with drifting white clouds. Neat-oh!

Each candle holder so far has been completely different. I love that! This is number three and once it is ready to be grouted, I'll grout the other two as well and get them listed as I continue to work on the last three I am listing. Fun stuff!!

Let's Go Shopping!

I've got 3 mosaics to share this week ... I couldn't decide which one I liked most to use for this post. So all 3 get featured!

Mosaic Sun Wall Art, Bohemian, Gypsy, Decor, Mosaic Wall Hanging, Mosaic Sunburst, Wall Art, For The Home, Wedding, Anniversary, Birthday - $38.25 USD
Lovely earthy colors, similar to a bohemian tapestry rug or pillow. We call this wall hanging, "home decor for your hippie soul".

Makes a great addition to any wall and all styles of decor. Great gift to give a new homeowner, newlyweds, for an anniversary, birthday, retirement or make it a "just because you are special" gift.

Mosaic Stained Glass, Trivet, Candle Holder, Octagon, Mosaic Mirror, Earth Tones, For The Home, Gift Idea, Wedding, Anniversary - 6.5 Inches - $38.25 USD
A plain, boring mirrored candle holder and/or trivet is now a piece of original mosaic art! A simple design in waves of stained glass in orange, amber, yellow and red weave throughout this 6-1/2 inch trivet. Felt pads on the bottom to protect your table or other surfaces.

Mosaic Stained Glass Candle Holder, Vase, Wedding, Birthday, Hand Cut Stained Glass, Mosaic Candle Holder, Stained Glass Mosaic, Anniversary - $30.00 USD
Wouldn't this make a great one-of-a-kind housewarming or hostess gift? Wouldn't it be great for the office in your home or at the work place? It holds more than a candle. It could be used for pens, pencils, fresh flowers ... all with a touch of class. Use it at home with a candle for a romantic feeling in your home. The candle light makes the colors of stained glass glow a brilliant luminosity. Sit it in a sunny spot and watch the glass colors come alive! It's gorgeous!! It would be a wonderful surprise for anyone's birthday, make a special anniversary or retirement gift.

In The Studio - Wednesday

I'm enjoying working on the candle holders this week. I hope the momentum continues because right now I'm going at a pace I like.

So far I've gotten 1 candle holder in the grout pile but by days end today, there will be a new one added!

snowflake candle holder waiting in the "to be grouted" pile

wip - snowman candle holder

one more side to finish
As I was working on the snowman candle holder, filling in around him with this awesome glass, it occurred to me that it looked like an "Ugly Christmas Sweater". The colors remind me of knitted material. And so it has been named!

soon to be tree ornaments
A few years ago I made ornaments for the kids in my family with their first initial on one side and a tree or star on the other. After that I offered them up as a custom made item but no one was interested in purchasing them. Meanwhile I decided I do enjoy making them, so instead of a made to order item, I'm going to make up a bunch of ornaments using some of the materials you see here and offer them on Etsy.

We'll be celebrating my birthday, another family member's birthday AND the Autumnal Equinox this coming weekend! It's an exciting thing for me to share my birthday with the first day of Autumn.

About a month ago I was given some dishes to use in my mosaics that belonged to her mother by the family member I mentioned above. I thanked her for them and asked her if she'd like a mosaic ring and/or pendant with some of the dish pieces. She thought that would be awesome! Although it won't be a complete surprise, she doesn't know I've already made her a ring which means I can give it to her when we have our gathering this weekend! Yay!

The color of the flowers are steel blue. I can see a lot of uses for dishes like these in mosaics of all kinds, so I'm very happy to have them! They will definitely get used!!

In The Studio - Wednesday

My mosaic muse is waking up just in time. The table is filled with projects to get completed for my Etsy shop. I'm looking forward to seeing all of these pretty 3 inch candle holders ready for their close-ups!

It took me about 2 hours to do the designs on these 6 glass vessels. The fun continues now as I'm filling in around the designs with stained glass.

Once these 6 are finished, I'll start in on the round ball ornaments. I'm really enjoying the burst of creativity arriving at a steady steam each morning! The muse has been asleep long enough.

More photos later on in the week when I've gotten at least one more covered in glass. The goal is to do them all within 2 weeks. Then they get to sit for a few days and get grouted.

Enjoy your week!

Let's Go Shopping!

Stained Glass Mosaic, Flower, Trivet, Candle Holder, Centerpiece, Mosaic Flower, Mosaic Trivet, Great Gift, Anniversary - 12.5 Inches - $63.75 USD

Stained Glass Mosaic
What a beautiful mosaic this is. I've hand cut stained glass and mirror and made a flower design. Stained glass in hues of red, orange, light brown and yellow were hand cut into a beautiful flower. A small pewter cabochon flower in the center and silver mirror are placed in this too. Bright and becoming. Cadmium orange acrylic was painted on the bottom and sides. Round feet on the bottom to lift it up off the surface.

Place this in the center of a table with a candle on it for the best ambience you can get during any evening. The glass and mirror sparkle and shine as the candle flickers. It's a beautiful thing. Placed in a sunny spot on a windowsill or side table will give the room a warm and inviting feel to it. When the sun hits my mosaics, almost always there's a light show of some sort. I use mirror for that purpose. Give the reflections a chance to calm you as you watch them dance on the walls around you.

This is one of those mosaic pieces of art that really needs to be seen in person to give the full beauty of it, but my photos have done what they can to convey the look. A pretty vase of flowers or a nice bit of greenery placed on or next to this would look wonderful but it is amazing all by itself. Truly one unique piece of mosaic art.

This would make a great gift for anyone in your life. Treat yourself and give the gift of handmade mosaic art. Make it the focal point in a room or place it near a lamp or window in a room to give it a bit of a decorative uplift.

Let's Go Shopping!

Mosaic Bowl, Stained Glass, Mosaic, Glass Tiles, Orange, Light Brown, Tan, Blue, Bowl, For The Home, Housewarming, Great Gift-7 x 2.5 Inches - $50.00 USD

I've added some mosaic magic to an old discarded ceramic serving bowl. Simple designs in orange, amber and brown in glass and ceramic tiles cover the inside giving it an updated look.

I'm very proud of creating useful art. Here's a great example of how to recycle and reuse something. By recycling this bowl I've conserved valuable natural resources and saved something that would otherwise be buried in a landfill.

Give this as a wedding gift, offering the happy couple a sustainable gift as you hope their union will be. This should last for years if cared for properly. Add it to any room in your home. It can be used to hold stuff and things but remember it is first and foremost a piece of art.

Set it in the center of a table to make a statement. Place it at the door to let your friends and family see it the very minute they enter your home. Make a statement and always consider buying from an artisan. Support handmade.

Decorative purposes only. Not for long term storage for food or liquids. To clean this bowl you can run it under warm water with mild soap if necessary and wipe out with a damp sponge. Do NOT use harsh chemicals. Do NOT place in dishwasher or submerge in water.

This awesome bowl measures 2.5 inches high and 7 inches wide.

In The Studio - Friday

It's been so much fun being as busy as I've been these past few months. The momentum should continue as I gear up for items to get listed in the Etsy shop as the months go on.

I had the great fortune to discover a "Call to Artists" recently on Facebook. A long time online friend who shares the love of mosaics is putting together a large mural for a wall in her area of AZ. She was looking for donations and I jumped at the opportunity to contribute! It's been a very long time since I've had the funds to do things like this. I'm thrilled!!

Mosaic sun design
I knew I'd make a sun; it is one of my favorite things to make. But recently when I draw them, they have the lotus flower leaves in them too. I seem to feel these designs take on a mind of their own. After all the sun would have been fine without the lotus leaves added. But I felt I should follow the muse and so together, we created this:

The arrow shown in the drawing was how I saw it when I first did it. But as things progressed, I saw the design was forming in a different way and felt this way was better. In the end, the trusted artist receiving this mosaic will know in which direction she should place it depending on where it goes on her wall.

While I was waiting for glue to arrive to do the sun, I did a quick switch plate cover.

I love these dish tiles so much that I decided once the sun was finished, I'd have to make a moon to go with it.

This too will be heading to AZ soon.

The best part of this whole experience is coming together with like-minded artists all over the world to help fill up that wall mural. I'll post some info later on as the wall begins to come together.
