In The Studio - Friday

It's been a few months since I've written a post and boy, have I been busy!

I have sold just about all the candle holders I've made for the holidays, much to my delight. Some through Etsy, a few through Facebook before getting them listed. That's always fun! I've also sold a switch plate cover and another large glass plate! They are really selling right now, I only have 2 left! Wow! Below are the items that have sold within the past few months. Happy me!

I have one more candle holder to grout. One more ornament to grout, one more to finish getting glass and mirror on. Hopefully I'll get it all done and listed before it's too late but I'm not really rushing at this point.

I had a nasty cold which kept me from working for about 10 days. I'm back at it and the muse wanted to work on the "Let It Snow" panel I started last year. I go where the muse leads me and I'm never sorry! Check it out!!

Chances are good I'll be back at this panel later this afternoon.

Meanwhile, in case I don't write again for another two months ... I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Let's Go Shopping!

Mosaic Tree Flower Pot, Mosaic Tree, Vase, Stained Glass Mosaic, Tree, Pine Tree Mosaic, Woodland Decor, For The Home, Anniversary, Wedding - $40.00 USD

We love trees! Stained Glass pine trees surround this pot. Hand cut green and brown stained glass create the trees. I placed two large trees on either side and a lot of small stick-like trees around them. I made you a forest just like a good Earth Mother should! I loved the color of this pot a lot and didn't want to cover the entire thing in glass that would take away from it. Using instead clear glass called tempered or crash glass was the answer. You can still see the beautiful green color of the pot from the outside.

I would suggest putting a self-contained flower pot or small tree within this one, as there is no hole at the bottom for drainage. This has more uses than even I can think of. Put it on a desk and let it hold scissors, rulers, pens, pencils. Place it in the kitchen and use it for wooden spoons and spatulas. It fits in a bathroom holding rolled up washcloths or brushes and combs. The uses are endless. It could hold remote controls for your TV room, place flowers in it and use it as a display in the center of your table.

We love useful and decorative art. Perfect!!

This flower pot is handmade with love by EarthMotherMosaics.

DO NOT SUBMERGE IN WATER.

Measures 5 x 5 inches

In The Studio - Wednesday

Things are slowing down a bit, as is always expected after a flurry of activity here In The Studio. I am still working on something however and can share it.

Using the word "flurry" above was not by accident. I'm thinking winter themed items right now. Although no one likes the cold, including me, I do love snow.

Here is "Let It Snow" still a WIP or work-in-progress.

The best part about this is as I work on it, with nothing really set in stone, I start to imagine how to continue with it. I only knew when I started that I wanted these 3 things on the mosaic.

The glue is still wet in the center where the words are but I put glitter and tempered glass on that part. Fun!!

I have noticed a few large sections in the center that need more tempered glass added to it as the glue dries. But the snowman is perfect and is really cool looking!

Once I continue with this, I'll work on the tree, then do some vines and flowers, maybe around the whole thing. There is another piece of glass that will go behind this one inside the frame. What I'm doing with that piece is not yet clear but I have a few ideas. The end result should give it a layered effect, I hope. If it works out, or even if it doesn't, I'll definitely share here!

In The Studio - Wednesday

Can you believe it?! I am all caught up with grouting my mosaics! Yay!! That hardly ever happens!!

The glass vase is filled with purple, pink, green, white and black glass. The tree pot looks awesome and I'm so happy with how they both turned out. Both will get listed soon.

So now I had a little time to start a few small projects and start a fresh "to be grouted" pile.

The top is a small piece of holiday art. A silver mirrored star with red glass around it. There's a hanger on it which means it can be added to a wall or a door for decoration purposes.

The blue and white piece is more challenging to figure out, isn't it? The circle in blue (painters tape) is a mirror and the cup at the center of the base is for a tapered candle. I would like to add a hanger to this as well. Still not sure. I have 2 more of these wooden candle holders to play with. Each will probably be different.

Promo Blast!

3 Inch Round Ball Ornament - Custom Made - One Initial - Made To Order Item - Christmas In July - $40.00 each
Custom Made To Order Item - 3 Inch Round Ornament - Initial on one side Dancing Star or Holiday Tree on the other. Your choice in colors.

These spheres with a tree or dancing star on one side and an initial on the other make a great one-of-a-kind gift for everyone on your holiday list this year. How about that new baby in the family? Traditionally, these ornaments should last a very long time. Order a few and get a jumpstart on your holiday gift giving.

The glass/dishes color for filling in around the design can be any you'd like. Just let me know!

They have a ribbon for hanging and some cool details like ball chain around the ribbon. They may be covered in broken china or stained glass.

These are custom made to order. The price includes prep work and materials on one styrofoam ball for mosaic use, glass and the talent to make the magic!
The photos shown are the ones I made last year to give as an example as to how these will look when finished.

Last year in early December, I made some mosaic ornaments with an alpha initial shown in the photos here for each of the grandchildren and some extended family members' children for Christmas. They were such a big hit with the fam and I thought they turned out fairly well. Many customers asked if any were available for sale but the time necessary to make them can be up to 3 weeks if materials/supplies have to be ordered. And I couldn't offer them.
This year, I'm taking custom orders NOW for ornaments you'll want for Christmas, as part of the Christmas in July event happening in many online shops.

These ornaments will look slightly different from the photos shown here as all of my mosaics are not easily duplicated but the basics will be the same.

The only thing I will probably change in the design of these wonderfully unique ornaments is the bead attached to the hanger. I will work on a better system for hanging this year and probably won't use the bead but a small hook for the ribbon instead. Everything else should be the same!

Aren't they cool?!
Plan now to get handmade gifts for the holidays. These OOAK mosaics take time to create. Need more than one? No problem. Discounts available on multiple orders. Contact me for more details.

In The Studio

Happy Wednesday!

It's the 3rd day into the new format here and I'm loving it. I am more focused and centered on what needs to be done both in the studio and with marketing/networking/social media.

Let's get right to the fun things happening in the studio this week. I've made some peace sign coasters that will get grouted this weekend. I think they turned out really groovy. Here's what they looked like earlier this week.

I finished them up yesterday. I love them!

And I love making useful art!

I'm doing 'double duty' today starting on two new Flower Power projects. One is round and needs time for glue to dry before turning it to continue working on it. In order to keep the momentum going, I've got a nice flat substrate to work on too.

Depending on how quickly these go, I may be working on the next project after this before the week is through. This is an old cutting board my Dad made in a kidney design shape quite popular when I was growing up and again popular now as Retro. And a favorite of mine in design choices.

One it has the mosaic magic on it, it will be Retro wall art. Yay!

The other night I had an idea for a small mosaic for a nursery that will be done on wood. I drew out the templates but may not even use them. However, here is what I've got on the 'drawing board'.

I took a few photos of my tree this morning. It is the time of year when I am watching it, taking photos of it often and sharing its transition preparing for winter. I haven't edited them all yet, but I found one I like so much and thought of the song, Morning Has Broken sung by Cat Stevens. http://youtu.be/e0TInLOJuUM
