Promo Blast!

Mosaic Stained Glass Mirror // Wall Art // Abstract // Contemporary // Bold // Red Blue Yellow Green // Wall Decor // Mosaic Wall Art

Mosaic Stained Glass Mirror, 10 x 10 Inches, "Finding The Joy"

Finding The Joy
I made this mirror in 2009, pulling scraps from my work table of glass tiles, stained glass, silver mirror and iridescent stained glass. Glass gems in blue placed on each corner was the only decision I made before starting this. The rest was created as I went (my favorite way to create!) making it abstract in design. Adding a "joy" word stone was how the name of this mosaic came about.

Grouted and sealed for protection. Sides and back painted in black acrylic. Hanging hardware attached. Signed and dated. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Makes a great gift for yourself or someone special.

This is truly a one-of-a-kind piece of mosaic art. Perfect for any room in your home. If you like contemporary design, this makes a great addition to your collection. If you know someone who likes modern art this makes the perfect gift!

Buddha's Garden

What a great weekend I had in the studio!

I finished the glass-on-glass mosaic, Buddha's Garden. It's waiting for grout.

Buddha's Garden
13 x 15 inches
Stained glass and stones
I played with resin for the first time ever, putting it on top of some wearable art:

Grabbed some dish shards and created 2 pendants and 2 wall hangings with pique assiette.

This morning I grabbed some glass, another cross (as part of the 25 Mosaic Crosses Project, I plan to make all 25 before the end of October) and I do believe the next few days will be filled with mosaicking crosses. It's time to get 5 more made.

Busy days with grouting should be towards the end of the week. Woo-hoo!

How's that for a productive weekend?!

Taking Time With New Sites

Yesterday I spent the day posting photos of my photography and some mosaic art on 2 sites that are new to me. I will probably be doing this for a few days because it does take a little time to set up each photograph.

Society6 has a wonderful array of items they add your photographs to. I'm really diggin' the Laptop covers and the pillows. Check this one out of one of my favorite photographs of my favorite tree:

Colors of Autumn Throw Pillow

Dude! This is so cool! Not all photos look good as tee shirts and hoodies but many look great on totes. The only downside to this site is that these things are clumped together so if you want a photo on a tote, you have to have it shown on a tee and hoodie as well. Bummer. I won't be sharing many on totes or tee's because a lot of my photos just don't look good on clothes, to me, anyway.

And look at this laptop skin of my photo of abalone shells:

Pieces Of Abalone Shells

Wow. I'm so impressed with the quality they show here on the site. I hope the actually products look as good once printed. A few I've left as traditional photos, because some just look pretty cool as wall art. They have canvas prints, frames and matting available. Awesome.

Elderberries

I don't know if there is a limit as to how many photographs I can share, but I found over 100 I'd like to post from vintage items to my mosaics. I'll be groovin' on this site for a while and will share often. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!

I also started adding photos to FineArtAmerica which has the option to sell original art work as well as prints. What I chose to do was to crop some of the mosaics I'm selling as wall art so they can also be purchased as prints. For instance, Star Shine, the wall art I had on Etsy just a few shorts days ago is now being shown on this site for sale as an original piece of mosaic art. However, with a few finely chopped crops, it looks great as a canvas print or stationary card. Check it out:

Star Shine

And of course some of my favorite photos that I've taken over the past year are now featured here as well as on the other site which makes me extremely happy. I love the versatility of both sites and being able to introduce new folks to my work is always a wonderful thing. And I will be making new friends on both sites because I'm just learning and finding artists that I've not yet discovered. Yay!

Fruit Salad

Have a wonderful weekend! I do believe I'll be mixing my weekend up with posting new items on these sites plus getting some work done on Buddha's Garden. I am so close to finished with it, it really should have a little bit of my time so I can grout and paint it. Looks like I'll be busy this weekend! Hooray for creative days!!

3 Day Wall Art Sale - 50% Off All Items $50 and Up

Woo-hoo! The sale has begun in my Etsy shop.

July 29 - July 31, all wall art $50 and up is now 50% off. No coupon code is necessary, each item in this sale has already been reduced for easy checkout. You will find the 50% SALE items in the Wall Art Section.

I'd really love to see these head out this week to a new home. Making fine art affordable is a joy. It takes a long time to make a mosaic, especially wall art. Reducing the price is my way of saying thanks to those who support my work and the arts.

The pieces on sale for the next few days will be leaving my shop on August 1st to make room for more inventory in the months to come on Etsy. Take advantage of this sale while you can, it's for 3 days only!

Head on over and take a look. Think of the gift of handmade art that could be given to yourself, to your family, to your friends and co-workers. And make it mosaics!

Support the arts, give the gift of one-of-a-kind mosaic art.

Wednesday already! Sheesh!!

I've come up for air a bit from the crafts table and have been grouting, adding finishing touches and priming.

Dove of Peace - mosaic wall hanging
This dove was so nice to work on. It just needs some bails and jute and it'll be ready to list! Yay!

Both candle holders were grouted yesterday. The one on the left is going to my daughter for her birthday in a few days (I can't believe my "baby" is going to be 26!!). The one on the right was listed this morning!

Candle Holder

Today I am taking part in a treasury swap for one of the teams I belong to on Etsy. Once the dust clears, my items should be in 16 treasuries today! Whew!! I share, always, on the FB Page if you'd like to see them. The one I made is on there too.

I've been watching the glue dry on "Grow, Bloom, Fly" and have decided not to chance having it fall apart in transit this week. It's due in Cape Cod by July 9th, I can wait until next week to ship it. That means I get to spend a little more time with it. I'm okay with that!

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and Father's Day events went well for all who were part of them.

We went to a bowling birthday party for a 10 year old on Saturday. They had so much fun!

I enjoyed taking some cool photographs of glow-in-the-dark elements at the bowling alley.

On Sunday, I added the last of the glass to the wall art and immediately disliked it!

Once I saw this photo, I knew I would be taking off all the blue glass I had just spent hours putting on. And so, the process of ripping it off began. What was left, was a little mess of dried glue and chipped paint.

After cleaning off a little bit of the glue, the next step was to paint the sky blue once again.

I'm going to use the same green you can see in these photos and continue on up to the top. I know the placement of color will work well and I will be happy with it once again. The glue that was difficult to remove will now be an added texture under the glass. I have tried on other pieces to rid it of glue residue and found it to be tedious and disappointing. I never get it all cleared off and it bothers me a lot when I can't. I made the decision a long time ago that I wouldn't even attempt to try to remove all adhesives from the substrates I work on if I need to remove tess ... I roll with it. Less stress and adds dimension. Win/win.

My only regret is fighting my instincts as I was placing the blue glass down initially because I kept telling myself I didn't like it and to stop. However I was determined to see what it would look like completed with the blue. As always, the instincts were correct. I couldn't wait to get that beautiful blue stained glass up! It is truly very pretty but just not right for this piece.

I'm still on schedule with my deadline. I always give myself a few extra days just in case things like this happen. Overall, it is a happy piece of mosaic art and I am happy to have created it!

Today will be a mixed bag in the studio. Once the glass is down on the wall art, I have a few MDF pieces to prime, gold mirror tiles to cut into triangles, some photos to edit and listings to get ready for both shops. Whew.

Time for more coffee!
