Mosaic Monday - The View From Here

This abstract mosaic wall art was inspired by the countryside of Bucks County, PA where I'm currently residing. I've named it: "The View From Here" because I used a few photos I've taken recently of the trees and mountainside as well as sunsets/sunrises from my window.

Material: stained glass

Dimensions: Height: 8.75 Inches; Width: 8.75 Inches

Done in rich earth tones in green, blue, brown, orange, pink and red in stained glass.

My signature, a peace sign charm, has been added. Back has a saw tooth hanger making it ready for hanging. A few felt pads have been attached so the painted back will not scratch your walls. Signed and dated.

Indoor Use Only.

$60.00 USD - FREE SHIPPING (USA ONLY)

In The Studio - Wednesday

On Friday I shared all the pretty glass I nipped up to attach to a vase. I love working on glass-on-glass projects but the fact that they are circular means I must be patient!

Literally waiting for glue to dry so I can turn it and continue working. It is really cool looking. Groovy!

And it is now in the "to be grouted" pile.

Black grout will make this awesome vase pop!

After I worked on the above vase, I picked up a green flower pot and started adding trees to it.

I really love the color of the vase, so I smashed up the last shelf I had in tempered glass for it.

I put clear tape on one side before breaking it to try to keep the bigger pieces together. I've used glue to try that and it never worked. I'd get tiny pieces anyway. This time, I thought clear tape would keep some of the pieces together. We like to use "islands" of it because when it crackles apart some of the pieces are very small. However, the tape didn't work either. As you can see, as awesome as this looks, every single crack is an individual piece of glass. Next time I have the chance to break a shelf or large piece of tempered glass, I'll use painters tape on it and see how it works. I'm still learning even after all these years of mosaic making!

Meanwhile, here's the vase with much wet glue on it holding the tempered glass in place.

Once dry it will be clear and the green color of the vase will come through.

On Friday, I'll share the way it looks with glue slightly dryer. And maybe a new mosaic piece or two.

In The Studio - Part Two

And the week ends on a good but exhausted note. It's time to take a few days off and regroup before grouting, photographing and listing more small mosaic wall hangings.

It takes a while to grout, clean, paint, get hangers on them and then get decent photos (at least 3) for listings. I often think the prep work before a mosaic is created and after it's complete takes longer than the actual artwork. When I consider this, I make sure to charge for my time and 10 years worth of experience. If you create something and want to sell it, please keep these things in mind as well. It's important to let your customers know you value your time and talent as much as they should.

Mosaic Flower Wall Hanging - 4.5 inches

Each day, in between helping my Grandson with some school activities this summer, I've managed to create something. Doing small things has been a lot of fun and quite satisfying!

All of these range in size between 4-6 inches. And I think they are all headed towards the online store. It's been a productive week!

There are no new ones to share just yet. I've been working on what's been done already and what needs grouting. The pile is getting smaller, which is a very good thing! I think more grouting will happen over the weekend or I just might really take a few days off and get back to it next week. Meanwhile I never know when the muse will want to play. I will share what I have when I can!

The weather here is getting cooler in the evenings and there is a just a hint of fall in the air already. Physically this is not good news ... I love the heat for my bones and sciatica especially but emotionally, I do love the colors that come with the fall and in September Little Dude and I have birthday's. That's always exciting!! I truly hope I can get some close ups of fall since I missed spring and most of summer being stuck in my room and on the 2nd floor. If I can get myself down the steps and outside to visit the trees and get some photos I would be really happy!

Have a great weekend!

Picture Day

November brings rain here in PA.

Before the rains came, we had some activity from the area's pine trees.

And even when it rains we have a few minutes here and there of sun.

This is my tree this November (photo taken 11/07/2013). It's colors are as wonderful as last year. It's beautiful and inspiring to me.

Picture Day

Not a lot to share this week but what photos I have are good ones. Yesterday was Halloween here in PA and it started off as very foggy in the morning, rained midday and then got overly warm in the evening. I did get some great shots of the foggy morning! The grandkids were out Trick Or Treating a good long time enjoying going door-to-door in their favorite neighborhood. I stayed home and watched Netflix and worked on the custom order with no interruptions. We don't get any children visiting in the complex. The photo below may be an indication as to why. It can look pretty scary when the sun's not shining.

I've been playing around with the photo editor. Isn't the one above really awesome?!

Here's a foggy photo of my tree.

Check it out - the sky is white from fog. Cool.

But the leaves on my tree are still beautiful with a little help from the photo editor's saturation feature.

Ahhhhh the colors of fall in Pennsylvania. Beautiful.

I got a shot of my newest candle holder last night too. Placed in the window, the reflections all looked orange at night. Love that!

My tree definitely influenced me when picking out the colors for this candle holder.

Picture Day

Today is picture day! Yay! It's the newest weekly post for Friday's but it literally IS picture day at my grandson's school. It will be his first official school photo. Awwww.

Practicing his smile. All showered and ready to go!
I went out for a walk yesterday in the gloomy rain and my mood was gloomy as well. I love the cooler temperatures but I like sunshine. I like rain too, honestly, but some days I just don't feel connected to the Universe if the sun doesn't shine.

The sun did come out for a brief hello, but I wasn't bothered by the cloudy darkness because I found that nature, once again, gave me a lot of inspiration. I found pine needles blanketing the earth, surrounded by sap covered pine cones. My inspiring tree in the courtyard of our apt complex shared a bit of sun even while it was raining. Green leaves were still green on my tree but on the other side of the courtyard I found one of my favorite spots, filled with moss and roots from a strong tree that has grown like steps over the years looking especially beautiful today surrounded by fallen leaves. And I found color. So much color. I'm grateful for this day. I'm blessed and humbled by what is around me. It's amazing. And there it was ... my connection to the Earth and the Universe.

What do you think? Pretty awesome, right?
