Friday - Bits and Pieces

There's a lot of little things from the week I'd like to share. I'll start with the mosaic peace sign. I've been working on a section at a time up til this week. I had a spurt of energy that lasted as long as the album Rumours by Fleetwood Mac and a few songs by the Doobie Brothers. Which equaled about 45 minutes, I am guessing. I finished three sections, leaving three sections left to do before grouting. Not bad!

I did a collage on a small bottle (sweet and sour sauce maybe?) and added wonky looking twine and an awesome earring.

I covered a piece of cardboard from a cereal box and cut out shapes for journaling. That was a lot of fun and easy!

I also did a card, a windowed envelope, some ink stamping, and an awesome shaped piece that came from a box (I put the red flower on it).

Over the weekend (Labor Day weekend many have a four day weekend - enjoy your play time if you get it!) I'd like to use a few of the collage papers (shown under the red flower - pile on the left ←) I made into a large sheet then cut down into nice pieces for my journals or I can cut them down more and glue them to cards. Maybe I'll do both. And maybe I'll make another big sheet! I really loved doing that with my scraps.

And I'm working on my website ... taking the collage art prints available on Fine Art America and adding them to the website under their own heading. I have 9 collage pieces on FAA at the moment. I'm taking screenshots of a few choices offered (canvas prints, framed prints and throw pillows), putting them together using the Pic Collage app on my computer, then getting it on the website with general info and a link to take you to my page to see sizes, prices, other items offered and to purchase. Each thing offers a great turnaround time but due to upcoming winter weather, the holidays (yes, they ARE coming whether we're ready or not!) I think giving extra time, between 7-10 days, is reasonable.

Doing the computer stuff ... I used to do it for a living but I'm retired now and I find it's a lot of work for my brain, but I can do a few each morning before it goes fuzzy. Right now, at this writing, I have 2 finished. Wow. I might have to kick it up a notch. LOL

The photo above shows the editing I'm doing on the computer. It is harder now, especially when I want to be getting messy with paint or grout.

Meanwhile, I purchased a new Lamb Chop for our dog this week. I thought I was getting the small version that she always gets (I think she's shredded 4 so far) but it turns out I got the BIG version. She loves it! You can see video of her playing with it right after we gave it to her through Instagram. Check it out.

Happy Hinata. 💓

Friday and Fine Art America

I'm going to be taking a short break next week but before I do, I thought I'd share some nifty art from my FineArtAmerica site.

Here's a favorite art collage called Sweet Sleep. You can find it using the link above.

I'll be away from Monday, July 28th until August 11th.

Please feel free to contact me; I'll still be checking my messages regularly.

Enjoy the journey.

Wednesday Wonder - Wondering Where to Purchase My Collage Art?

Wondering where you can get some of my collage art for yourself or as a gift for someone special? I've added a few of my favorite collage art pieces onto FineArtAmerica.

Today I'm focused on this collage:

Believe In Yourself

As I was looking through the site yesterday, I realized none of my art is signed where it can be seen on the prints (I habitually sign things on the reverse side). Eventually I know I'll have to go back and sign on the front of these, retake photos and relist them.

But that's not today. I'll get that changed next month. Adding it to the to-do list right now!

Here's are some screenshots of a few different ways to have my art in your home (if you'd like a signature tag for your art, let me know, they are available for a small fee).

I like this design as a tote bag, framed wall art and as a pillow (includes insert if you add it when checking out).

Pretty nifty, huh?!

Head on over to FineArtAmerica and see for yourself the collage, doodles and photography I have there. It's worth the trip, I promise.

Enjoy the journey.

Wednesday's Wishes

If I had a wish that I know would come true, I'd wish for help with all the different things I have to do as a "one woman show".

I'm not crazy about taking photos, get them uploaded on the computer/iPhone, editing, posting. I'd rather just do the art.

However, I know I'm very lucky to be able to do those things, at least to a certain degree, without difficulty. And so very grateful for that knowledge.

Right now, I'm uploading photos into Fine Art America of collage work and doodles. At this writing, only a few of each of those are available for purchase, but it's looking good so far!

Here's the first collage I've posted on this site that is also available through FAA on Pixels (they work together to do some of the printing things like mugs, for instance). It's a definite favorite of mine.

Dream

Click on the link under the photo to see the array of goodies you can purchase, as well as prints both framed and unframed. As usual I love the pillow covers, tote bags and mugs the best. They are so cool.

As far as wishes go, I also wish you have an enjoyable Wednesday and your week is going well. We are having a LOT of rain and cold weather here in these early days of June. It's a bit of a bummer to try to function when arthritis doesn't like either of those weather situations however, I'm determined (stubborn) enough to keep on going. It doesn't take a lot of muscles or much strength to make a collage, thank goodness.

Right now, that's where I'm headed ... to make a few collages! Yay!!

Enjoy the journey.

In The Studio - Part One

We're having a "heatwave" in PA this week! Our temperatures have risen and it's downright steamy here at almost 60 degrees which brings rain instead of snow. In true form, March came in like a lion and will probably go out like a lamb.

My daughter and grandson have been sick for a few weeks. Tara started with a nasty cold that transformed into the flu. Little Dude caught her cold and quickly followed through with a horrible stomach flu. He fought it for a while but it eventually flattened his 7 year old body for quite a few days. That's the first time he's really given in to an illness with very little fighting and I honestly don't think he had much choice. The good news is my daughter is almost completely recovered and Little Dude should follow along behind her soon enough. And as the weather changes, allergies will be upon them soon enough. Ah, the pollen in the air will have everyone sneezing in no time at all! But the best news is, this brings spring flowers and my camera will get a bit of a workout again. Yay!

I'm getting very interested in the way shadows play in nature. I have taken quite a few photos over the past year that didn't seem like much to me until I noticed the shadows. Here's a photo that I have recently placed on fineartamerica.com that I call "Reflections". Isn't it cool?

I have to say, I'm enjoying this custom order so very much. It's so much fun to think up new combinations of designs and colors. I'm in the middle of my journey with these 10 peace signs. It is safe to say it has been a wonderful experience.

So far I've got 4 peace signs grouted, 4 ready for grout and 2 are waiting for the mosaic goodness.

Here's the 4 that are grouted.

I really love seeing them altogether like that. These are 8 inches and 10 inches and although the photos don't really show it, the sides and backs are painted. The back has a D-ring attached to each one for instant hanging from box to wall.

Here are the 4 peace signs that are taped up and ready for grout.

I'm happy that they all seem to look good side-by-side but could also stand alone and look just as good. The customer wants a whole wall of peace signs. I think I've given her a great start!

Stay peaceful,
