Let's Go Shopping!

I've got 3 mosaics to share this week ... I couldn't decide which one I liked most to use for this post. So all 3 get featured!

Mosaic Sun Wall Art, Bohemian, Gypsy, Decor, Mosaic Wall Hanging, Mosaic Sunburst, Wall Art, For The Home, Wedding, Anniversary, Birthday - $38.25 USD
Lovely earthy colors, similar to a bohemian tapestry rug or pillow. We call this wall hanging, "home decor for your hippie soul".

Makes a great addition to any wall and all styles of decor. Great gift to give a new homeowner, newlyweds, for an anniversary, birthday, retirement or make it a "just because you are special" gift.

Mosaic Stained Glass, Trivet, Candle Holder, Octagon, Mosaic Mirror, Earth Tones, For The Home, Gift Idea, Wedding, Anniversary - 6.5 Inches - $38.25 USD
A plain, boring mirrored candle holder and/or trivet is now a piece of original mosaic art! A simple design in waves of stained glass in orange, amber, yellow and red weave throughout this 6-1/2 inch trivet. Felt pads on the bottom to protect your table or other surfaces.

Mosaic Stained Glass Candle Holder, Vase, Wedding, Birthday, Hand Cut Stained Glass, Mosaic Candle Holder, Stained Glass Mosaic, Anniversary - $30.00 USD
Wouldn't this make a great one-of-a-kind housewarming or hostess gift? Wouldn't it be great for the office in your home or at the work place? It holds more than a candle. It could be used for pens, pencils, fresh flowers ... all with a touch of class. Use it at home with a candle for a romantic feeling in your home. The candle light makes the colors of stained glass glow a brilliant luminosity. Sit it in a sunny spot and watch the glass colors come alive! It's gorgeous!! It would be a wonderful surprise for anyone's birthday, make a special anniversary or retirement gift.

Let's Go Shopping!

Stained Glass Mosaic, Flower, Trivet, Candle Holder, Centerpiece, Mosaic Flower, Mosaic Trivet, Great Gift, Anniversary - 12.5 Inches - $63.75 USD

Stained Glass Mosaic
What a beautiful mosaic this is. I've hand cut stained glass and mirror and made a flower design. Stained glass in hues of red, orange, light brown and yellow were hand cut into a beautiful flower. A small pewter cabochon flower in the center and silver mirror are placed in this too. Bright and becoming. Cadmium orange acrylic was painted on the bottom and sides. Round feet on the bottom to lift it up off the surface.

Place this in the center of a table with a candle on it for the best ambience you can get during any evening. The glass and mirror sparkle and shine as the candle flickers. It's a beautiful thing. Placed in a sunny spot on a windowsill or side table will give the room a warm and inviting feel to it. When the sun hits my mosaics, almost always there's a light show of some sort. I use mirror for that purpose. Give the reflections a chance to calm you as you watch them dance on the walls around you.

This is one of those mosaic pieces of art that really needs to be seen in person to give the full beauty of it, but my photos have done what they can to convey the look. A pretty vase of flowers or a nice bit of greenery placed on or next to this would look wonderful but it is amazing all by itself. Truly one unique piece of mosaic art.

This would make a great gift for anyone in your life. Treat yourself and give the gift of handmade mosaic art. Make it the focal point in a room or place it near a lamp or window in a room to give it a bit of a decorative uplift.

The reflective qualities in this are outstanding. You can see from the photos the way the triangles are shown throughout the mirror underneath the glass. In bright light you have an amazing light show! The last photo shows how the mosaic looked before grout, still as a work-in-progress.

This mirrored trivet looks great sitting on a table with a lit candle in the center - reflections go everywhere. This would make a great wedding gift or housewarming gift. Give the gift of handmade art to those you love especially yourself!

Let's Go Shopping!

It's the day after Mother's Day and we're still reeling from all the love and appreciation we've received this past week from family, friends and customers. I'm feeling especially blessed and very grateful today.

A milestone for our Etsy shop: we made a sale last week! It's the first sale since re-opening our Etsy shop on the first day of Spring. Here's what is being lovingly wrapped up and sent on its way very soon.

Mosaic Wall Hanging, Mosaic Wall Art, Starfish

Sharing the spotlight today are 3 items from my shop.

This is one gorgeous mosaic bowl with a decorative flower in stained glass and gold mirror in the bottom surrounded by gold ball chain. Rows of beautiful hand cut green stained glass and gold mirror wrap around the inside to the very top. This bowl is absolutely beautiful. The outside of the bowl is a soft yellow color. I call this color "Green Apple". --- $50.00 USD

I really enjoy putting mosaics on switch plate covers.

Suns are the most fun! I love to mosaic them and putting one on this double switch plate cover not only brightens up the room but adds art in an unexpected place.

This one has wonderful stained glass in bright orange with a light amber background and mirror outlining the sun.

It would fit in well in a child's room, a guest room, be given as a gift or keep it as a special treat for yourself. New home owners or apartment dwellers would love this! --- $23.50 USD

Promo Blast!

It's a Promo Blast! kinda day and it's coming from my newly re-opened shop on Etsy.

I'm thinking you'll be seeing some of my favorite shops not just on Etsy now that I'm back but also from the other shops I share my items online with. I like sharing! I'm looking forward to finding some new things to share, but you can be sure I'll also be sharing some old favs!

I learned that the Etsy Treasury is going to retire in October. While I'm very sad about that, I understand their thinking and am fine with making up my own, perhaps smaller versions, for this post. Meanwhile, I made a treasury when I opened my shop on my birthday last week and want to share it here.

Birthday Wishes

Today I picked one of my mosaics that is fairly new. It has a lot of mirror and stained glass, in fall inspired colors.

In The Studio - Friday

Happy weekend!

After working on the "Super Secret Mosaics Lab" gift, I decided to do a little grouting! I was surprised that my "to be grouted" pile is kind of overflowing. It's a good feeling, though, because that means I've been busy creating!

I grouted a small pendant and a wooden trivet first. Grout color is called "fawn". I love it.

After grouting this wooden trivet, I noticed some cracks in the side of the wood. It might have been something I did, but these pieces are about as old as I am (I'm now officially 62!) so chances are I just didn't notice the crack until now. If I list this, it will be reduced due to the crack. Oh well, my loss is a customer's gain!

I finally got that big old frying pan grouted because I had a little left over from what I did above. I love this thing but this sucker is HEAVY!

This might get listed soon. I'm still cleaning off the grout from the dish pieces. I used different thicknesses so some are almost hidden from the grout at the moment. But I do love this and really would love to work on more aluminum items. I'm going to have to take a trip to the local thrift store some how soon to see what I can find. I don't drive, so finding someone to not only take me but be excited to go with me is probably the biggest challenge.

Enjoy your weekend and remember to keep it creative!

In The Studio - Wednesday

Dusting off the old mosaic tools and getting to work was exactly what I needed. I've missed going into that zone where nothing else is as important as the piece of glass in my hand and where it needs to be placed on the substrate in front of me.

I had a lot of fun over the past few days creating mosaics and I'm continuing the rest of the week along the same path. Yay!

I put a mosaic on a 10 inch plate. My favorite design, the sun and moon. LOVE these colors too, so that's a bonus.

All the newly purchased stained glass and mirror will soon be put to work here!

I love making mosaic suns and moons. It makes me very happy.

Shiny glass ... yummy!

All ready for the grout pile.

And I got a beauty of a flower put on a trivet. This has tape all around it to protect the sides from the grout.

I was still trying to decide what color grout to use on this at this point.

Once I finished it, I knew I'd be using black grout!
I really am on a roll right now! Yay!

And next was a 3 paneled frame. I added a chain and hooks to the wooden frame and put a mosaic on the 3 sections on glass that go with it.

Similar in design to my big window, I can make these up a lot faster.
Love how this one looks!

Still wet from the glue, a few more pieces of glass will be added to this later today before it gets to rest for a while. It looks good!

The studio has been a little busy. I'm hoping for a few custom orders to come through but meanwhile, I'm writing, reading and studying a few days a week for business. When I am ready for some "Zen" time, I work on a mosaic.

I think this plate is just about finished but I'm not yet sure. I might fill in around the glass half circles along the edge of the plate with some stained glass. It looks unfinished to me as it is now. I'm fairly sure I will fill it all in. I have to study it for a few days. In the photo below, it looks great just as it is but I will grout. Adding glass around the circles will make it easier for the grout to stay put. Not grouting around the circles is a consideration but not one I really want to do. I'll share photos whenever I figure out what I'm going to do with it. I always do.

I have to admit this mosaic doesn't look anything like I imagined it would. It does, however, look pretty cool, so obviously the muse once again was right!

Next up to mosaic are some MDF and wooden pieces I've had for a few years waiting for me to decide what to do. Both need priming again and some thought about designs. The design drawn on the sun will not be what I do on it.

Sun trivet on the left and leash holder on the right. Waiting for some magic.
