From The Studio - Wednesday

Happy Valentine's Day! Appropriately, I started working on the first heart I'll be donating to Florida. I'm very messy with thinset and get frustrated because of that, so it's taking me a little time to get through it. However, I'm positive once it's entirely filled in, I'll be very happy with it.

Here's the progress photos from the beginning to where I left off yesterday afternoon.

Because I have trouble cutting a straight line freehand, I use a white tealight candle to draw the lines before cutting.

The wax is easy to clean up and off of the glass and the scored lines are much straighter.

Hearts and flowers.

Mesh is cut to fit and taped down over a piece of plastic and the drawing.

Placement of the glass gems was done first.

The flowers start to form.

Messy thinset but once completely filled in, I'm hoping I can clean it up a bit.

Next Wednesday I'll share the progress and hopefully it will be finished!

In The Studio - Part Two

It's almost Valentine's Day and Little Dude and I are going to be busy for the next day or so making Mom a special ornament.

He specifically asked me if he could mosaic something (you've NO idea how happy that makes me!!) and so I found one of the folk art heart shapes I cut out a while back. Before he begins on this, I have to add a hole at the top so we can add a ribbon. I've covered up the sides with white cement to give it a more polished look. I will definitely share photos next week of his handiwork!

Meanwhile, I've been priming a lot of shapes to have ready for the muse when she decides to wake up. She's sleeping at the moment and I'm okay with that.

I've just gotten the final details on a custom order that will keep me busy for about 2 months! That's why I'm okay with allowing the muse time to rest. I need her wide awake very soon.

My favorite customer has requested 10 peace signs (5 are 10 inches, 5 are 8 inches) for a wall she wants to dedicate to them in her home. I am beyond excited that she decided to ask me to make them all, slightly different, but all mosaics. She has purchased 2 peace signs (8 and 10 inches) ready made from my shop plus requested a custom one that I made for her last year. You may remember seeing some of these if you've followed my blog for a while, but those of you who are fairly new, shown below is the custom order done in August 2014.

And these are the two that were in my Storenvy shop she recently purchased.

This is going to be fun!

Of course I'll share with everyone the work-in-progress as I go along.

If anything in the pile above of primed shapes looks like something you may be interested in once completed, let me know. Once I've gotten them filled with mosaic goodness, they'll all be available for purchase either directly through me or from my shop on Storenvy.

And here's a gentle reminder about the Monthly Newsletter: sign up using the form here on my blog or through my Facebook Page. I'll be gathering up email addresses next week and sending out the first Newsletter during the last week in February!

Happy Valentine's Day to all my wonderful followers!!

Promo Blast!

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I couldn't help but look through my stash of available mosaic jewelry to spotlight. I think I found the perfect thing to share this week.

Mosaic Jewelry 3 Piece Set - Sophia - Bracelet, Earrings, Pendant - FREE SHIPPING Within US - $125.95

My Mosaic 3 Piece Jewelry Set is named "Sophia" in honor of the amazing Sophia Loren. This set could make you feel warm and sexy ... possibly even make you speak in Italian. ;)

I adore Mid-Century Modern design and always feel the finished product represents that style when I use them. Mini tiles in ceramic are used in each piece. The bracelet has squares and oblong shapes, earrings are triangles and pendant is circles with one very small square in the center. These were made using tweezers and a magnifying glass so I could see where they were being placed within each area. Definitely a labor of love.

The pendant comes with a necklace. All jewelry is wrapped in tissue paper and placed in an organza bag perfect for gift giving.

Promo Blast!

Heart Coasters in Pink, Set of 2 - FREE SHIPPING Within US

Available through Storenvy

Pink Heart Mosaic Coasters just in time for Valentine's Day but can be used all year long!
Measures 4 inches
The technique to creating these coasters is as fun as they are cool. Painting pink on a wooden heart shape, sprinklings of glitter and glued over it all with tempered glass or "crash glass" as it is often called. Grout pulls it all together nicely and makes these coasters sturdy to hold a glass or can.
These coasters are a great decorative accent as well as useful.

Sealed, painted and felt feet placed on the bottom to protect your furniture and protects the coasters from scratching while not in use.
Do NOT submerge in water. To clean, simply wipe off the top with a damp cloth and mild detergent if necessary.
ANNOUNCEMENT: I'm proud to announce I've been chosen as the newest Artisan to include my mosaics on Clairporium - it's an honor and a privilege. I'm thrilled!
