Mosaic Monday

Bohemian Sun Celestial Design Mosaic Wall Art

Stained Glass and Mirror
8 inches
$53.50 (purchase directly through PayPal here)

As the song says: Open up your heart and let the sun shine in!

One of the best parts about this beauty is the focal point. That brilliant bright green chartreuse! My favorite color in green. Fabulous!!

This is 8 inches and filled with small hand cut stained glass triangles and mirror diamond shapes all lovingly placed. Naturally I feel an energy that comes from making mosaics and I've sent that vibration in and on this sun. Something deserving for a celestial design such as this. The best thing about this mosaic are the good vibes it can exude.

The stained glass used are colors ranging in orange, amber and tan almost caramel around the center with the pre-cut diamond mirror.

A peace sign charm often used as my signature on my mosaics has been added.

Indoor use only.

Mosaic Monday - Standalone Sun - WIP

I got these really cool unfinished wooden suns from Etsy last year. They stand on their own which is kinda awesome in my opinion. My only caveat is the wood isn't smooth on the sides. You can see from the second photo here that it wasn't sanded smoothly before it went out to me. I did try to smooth the sides but it wasn't easy and maybe why the person who makes these didn't do it. That's okay for my purposes because I have a lot of ribbon and twine and a hot glue gun ... and I know how to use them! 😁

The plan for these three: one will have a mosaic, one a dot painting and the third a collage. All have been painted turquoise.

I'm hoping once this one is grouted the weight won't shift and make it imbalanced. Fingers crossed! 🤞

Aren't these glass colors pretty? Sky blue, yellow and orange. I also added mirror (of course) so there's a little bit of reflective light going on as well.

For now, it's resting in the "to be grouted" pile. I'm not sure when I'll grout them but it'll definitely be with black. I'm hoping maybe before the end of the month before the pile gets much higher. 😏

Enjoy the journey.

Mosaic Monday - Cornflower Sun

Material: stained glass

Dimensions: Height: 12 Inches

I call this one "Cornflower Sun". The flower in the center is surrounded by this beautiful color in blue iridescent glass. The center is in a bright orange and the flower itself is in iridescent tan. To say this sparkles and shines is an understatement. Around the flower are black iridescent glass dots.

Gift this to someone who loves all things shiny and bright. Makes a great birthday present, holiday gift, anniversary gift, or a just because gift.

Works well in most every room. I'd say those who have an eclectic taste will love this addition to their home.

My signature, a peace sign charm, has been added. Back has a hanger making it ready for the wall. A felt pad has been attached so the painted back will not scratch your walls. Signed and dated.

Indoor use only.

Measures 12 inches

$65.00 USD - FREE SHIPPING (USA ONLY)

Theme Thursday: Mosaic Suns

I've only got a few left, but more will be added as soon as I can get to them. Here are 2 nifty looking mosaic suns from my Etsy shop.

Abstract in design, there are flowers and a sun added in mirror, stained glass and dish tiles. All hand cut to fit. I drew some random circles and the sun on this frame and added glass gems to some of the dots. From there, it turned into flowers and a sun. Abstract designs are the most fun to do because they can turn into just about anything or nothing at all and still be cool looking. This frame can be flipped in 4 directions making photo choices much easier. More photos and description can be found by clicking the link under the photo shown here.

I call this Mosaic Sun "Jazzy Sunshine". This year has been difficult so far for many of us. Looking at this mosaic always makes me happy and I found the lyrics to a song by Irving Berlin that describes this perfectly.  Read them in the listing by clicking the link below.

Mosaic Monday - Mosaic Sun

Mosaic Sun, Wall Art, Wall Hanging, Mosaic Art, Hippie Style, Bohemian Style, Hippie Art, Boho Art, Anniversary, Birthday, Wedding, Christmas

Materials:stained glass, ball chain

Dimensions: Height: 12 Inches

I call this Mosaic Sun "Jazzy Sunshine". This year has been difficult so far for many of us. Looking at this mosaic always makes me happy and I found the lyrics to a song by Irving Berlin that describes this perfectly. Read on.

"Sunshine" by Irving Berlin 1928

A lot of cobwebs in your head
You're getting rusty, so you said
You're feeling bad, and everything looks gray, and sad
You're getting worried, yes indeed I know exactly what you need:
A little sunshine will make you feel okay!

Give the blues a chase
Find a sunny place
Go and paint your face
With sunshine!

Pay your doctor bills
Throw away his pills
You can cure your ills
With sunshine!

Why don't you take your teardrops one by one
Before it gets too late
Hang them up out in the sun
And they'll evaporate!

When the troubles start
Pounding at your heart
Trouble will depart
With sunshine

Very cool. So give yourself a little sunshine using this shiny bit of mosaic perfection or gift it to a dear one who could use a boost of Vitamin C. Anyway you look at this, it sparkles. In sunlight it's amazing. Placed by a window that gets a lot of sun it would sparkle at you all day long. Placed near a lamp or artificial light from an at-home office, the sparkle continues just as brightly.

Done in a favorite color palette, full of iridescent glass, you'll find this can blend in or stand out. The choices are up to you! The design starts at the center and spirals out to the sunbeams. The brown glass has a red shine to it and some pieces look red, some look amber. The orange in the center and at the tips brings your eye around the entire piece to see each color individually and as a whole.

Measures 12 inches top to bottom, side to side

My signature, a peace sign charm, has been added. Back has a hanger making it ready for the wall. A felt pad has been attached so the painted back will not scratch your walls. Signed and dated.

Throwback Thursday - Crescent Moon and Sun Stained Glass Mosaic Plate

Made around 2016, created on an old glass dish, the vibe for this moon and sun is definitely hippie inspired. Bohemian styled and in honor of my teenage years, growing up in the 60's and 70's, as a flower child in spirit. This plate is extremely groovy.

Plate measures 10 inches and is a recycled dish given to me when I first moved to PA with my young children. It was used, loved and retired waiting for some mosaic magic.

One of my absolute favorites to create in mosaic form, moons and suns always make me happy. Fits in anywhere within the home or even a small apartment. Perfect for someone just starting out and/or ready to retire. Appeals to all ages, young and old.

We love this style; we love the energy that comes with this design. We love creating moons and suns in mosaics! It is the middle ground between the light of the sun and the darkness of night, and thus often represents the realm between the conscious and the unconscious. The circular shape alone is a symbol of the never ending circle of life. Placing a half moon and half sun inside the circle supplies even more meaning. The sun is often recognized as a symbol of rebirth, strength and power.

WIP Wednesday

I'm so happy to share a photo of the sun that is now in the "to be grouted" pile! Woohoo!

How it looks in artificial light.

How it looks in natural light.

Once grouted, it will be put in my Etsy shop for sale. This was a true labor of love (and patience for me, which is rare!) and I'm so pleased with the result.

Also, I only have a small section to finish on the larkspur before it will join the sun in the "to be grouted" pile.

I'm proud of this one. July's birth flower, Larkspur or Delphinium, is the first in a 12 part series. Now I only have 11 more to go! Yikes!! August will be done after I work on the crescent moon.

Tesserae Tuesday

I'm excited to share the sun I was working on recently and had to put aside. I had run out of the tiles I needed to finished it and therefore had to wait for the glass tiles to arrive. Now that I have them, I can finish!

See those blank spots? That's all that's left to complete. Really happy to have these tiles back in my rotation once more. I love iridescent stained glass!

That's all I have for this time. I really can't wait to get this pretty sun grouted and listed on Etsy!

WIP Wednesday

Yesterday I mentioned I'd be filling in this sun with yellow glass. I've since changed my mind. I'll be using orange instead. It seems to flow better for me. I like to think that the eye follows a certain pattern, color or shape. In this instance, it seems to blend better with orange.

No worries. The yellow will definitely get used in something else.

Here is the final choices for this sun. The small brown glass dots, iridescent brown and tan and orange. I like it!

Honestly yesterday was a little too warm for me to work at the table. I am sure once summer arrives for good, I'll get used to it, but it was slightly uncomfortable in my space until the sun disappeared from the sky. I might have to start working at night, which I can do easily enough. And yes, I DO have an air conditioner in and running. It wasn't even as hot as it gets during the summer, but it was warmer than I'm used to, so I took the day to acclimate.

More fun to come as the weeks go on. It's always fun being an artist in the attic! :)

From The Studio - Wednesday

A few posts ago, I shared the process of taking small glass beads off of a broken vase. I have since sorted them all by color as best as I could and they're in their own baggies.

Some pieces wouldn't come off the glass. That's what is seen at the far left in this photo.
The pieces that are in the far left bag might get used in some way as they are. But I'm happy with the amount I have to play with and use in future mosaics! Well worth the time it took.

I got a photo tent kit this week and am learning how to use it. The lights are wonky and I considered sending them back but wanted to use the tent as soon as it came out of the box, so I found a creative way to still use the lights. They are supposed to sit on tripod legs and from the reviews and comments I read it seems it's either hit or miss with them. Some work, some don't. The good news is if sent back they'd be replaced, but I'm keeping these, I think. As crazy as it looks, placing them inside empty coffee cans gives me the same results as tripod legs!

The tent is upside down but I wanted to get a shot of the progress as I was putting it together.

While totally unconventional, it works!

I used the blue filter with this shot. Nice!!
Not crazy about the plastic sheets and their wrinkles but it is a good learning tool for me. I am figuring out what I like, what I need in the future and how to take better photos.

My favorite photo so far has got to be this one.

Heading to Etsy very soon!
