From The Studio - Wednesday

It's been a busy week at the work table. Gotta love these days!

I'm working on a glass-on-glass large candle holder as a gift for a sweet family friend. She provided the vessel and I am providing the rest.

Red, gold, black and green are being used.

Adding what I call "confetti" in glass.

She sent me some helpful color swatches in photos to use as I make the mosaic.

Got the purple heart for the donation to Florida finished. The original one I was working on came out pretty badly due to thinset getting all over the top of the glass. I wasn't able to get it cleaned off properly. So, starting over was the only option.

This 5 inch heart will be sent to Orlando very soon for the mural in honor of the Pulse Nightclub shooting in 2016.

Business News - Friday

Today's post will be about the business side of business.

I've recently decided the business needed a bit of a boost and so the first thing I've done was change the name all across the board from Earth Mother Mosaics to Art By Earth Mother Mosaics. Some things can't be changed or will be slow in getting through the channels it takes to switch completely over.

I now have a new website (still under construction): artbyearthmothermosaics which will get tweaked and rearranged many, many times before I'm completely happy with it. But please check it out and let me know what you think of it so far!

Now for some exciting news! I was asked to be part of mural going up in Orlando. Diversity Mural in Orlando! will be a combination of mosaics hearts in many different sizes in rainbow colors. This mural will have a silhouette of a person blowing a kiss toward the rainbow. Taken from their Facebook Group page this information explains how it was conceived: "The design developed as a response to the Pulse nightclub shooting on June 12, 2016 in Orlando, FL as a way to send support and love to those who suffer from discrimination and hatred. After the presidential election, the message felt even more urgent, and more broad. We feel this message extends to all who are persecuted for being outside of the mainstream. It is a giant, visual love note to the world, and a way for participants (heart-makers) to express support for and alliance with disenfranchised people. Now, Jennifer Kuhns and Cherie Bosela are teaming up to create a second version of the mural to be installed on an exterior wall in Orlando, FL. Cherie's mosaic studio, Luna Mosaic Arts (http://www.lunamosaics.com) is in a neighborhood 5 miles north of the Pulse Nightclub, and she'll be collecting completed hearts at that location. Jennifer will fly to Orlando when enough hearts have been collected to work on the installation. Our hope is to coincide with the second anniversary: June 12, 2018. However, this is a very quick turnaround, so we are staying flexible."

How awesome is that?! I've chosen to make my heart(s) in purple. Check in next week as I share the progress along the way. I'm super excited to be part of this. It really makes me happy to know my little heart will be added to many, from all over the world, to show love and support. That's just so very cool!!

Have a fantastic weekend and remember to enjoy the moments!
