In The Studio - Part Two

It's almost the weekend and I have some plans all laid out for it! I'll be grouting for one thing.

I have so many things to grout, I put them all in a box a few weeks ago to keep them from getting placed here and there around my room/studio.

I am also going to get started on putting mosaics on a few bras. I'm not the first one to do this. Search for it, you'll see some charities for Breast Cancer Awareness have auctions and fashion shows and all that good stuff that include mosaic bras. I told myself I would get at least two finished before the end of October and hopefully someone will find them just whimsical enough to want to purchase for their home, doctor's office or local hospital. I can keep them here with me too. But I won't be tempted to put them on. I promise you that!

These bras are too small for me, so they will get covered in mosaic magic this month.
When these mosaic bras sell, I will donate 50% towards the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

I also put a lot of the items I want to retake photos of into a box. I had to do some re-painting too, so I put those together as well.

The Fiestaware peace sign and the switchplate and outlet covers (not shown in the photo above) are now properly attended to.

I had trouble yesterday with the Camera Goddess but got out of bed this morning aware that she was ready to get to work. I started by taking the photos of the outlet covers and moved on to the holiday vase.

Not bad!

I had a great surprise yesterday from an online artist buddy I've known for 7 years now, I guess. Wow, time does fly when you have fun talking about mosaics! She sent me a small care package of goodies to use in future mosaics along with one of her trademark Zentangle cards. Everything will be used and I'm so pleased she thought of me enough to send me these awesome goodies!

I especially love those floral tiles in the center of the tray. Yummmmmmy!! There's a lot of sparkle and shine in a few of these bags. A lot of things are iridescent. Gotta love that!! I'm looking forward to using every single bit of it. Maybe some will end up on the mosaic bras! You never know!!

Check This Out!

This might actually become a new weekly post for me on Saturday's because I love to share all the websites I sell my products on! It seems like I spend an extra amount of my time giving Etsy a lot of love. While that is awesome and I will continue to do that, my other shops could use some TLC.

So, Check This Out! is a post today about society6 and some new items they have available. I'm really diggin' the newest item: Wall Clocks!

The frame comes in 3 color choices, Natural, Black and White. The hands color choices come in White or Black. All for $30.00 this weekend with Free shipping through Sunday. Woo-hoo!

Props for Other Shops

Today, I want to share society6 where I get the great tote bags, pillow covers and blank note cards I share on Etsy.

There are many advantages of shopping directly from society6 when you're looking for my photo prints. You get more than the items mentioned above, for one thing. You also get them at a lower price and a slightly quicker turnaround time because they are shipped directly to you from the lab.

There are prints available both framed and unframed, iPhone cases and skins, laptop skins, iPad cases and much, much more.

Framed Print, 2 sizes available - Where The Faeries Live
iPad Case - In Bloom
Laptop Skin - Never Stop Looking Up #5
Pillow Cover, 3 sizes available - Poke Weed Berries
5 x 7 inch Blank Note Card, Set of 3, 5 or 10 - Inside The Bottle
Photo Print, 10 x 8 inches - Colors Of Autumn
Take the time to look through my selection at society6 and stay a while to look at some of the other fantastic artwork available there. It's a cornucopia filled with photography and art prints by so many talented people. A few of my favorite artists are: Bri.buckleyFalkoFollert and budikwan - I highly recommend giving their shops a look-see.

I'm still doing a lot of work on this site in between other things and adding photos a few times a month that aren't shown anywhere else. I will update here when new photos have been added and share the links.

I hope you enjoy this site as much as I do. For those who have photographs and art and want a new venue, society6 is a great place to go. Your artwork STAYS yours to do with as you will. They don't own the rights to your work, ever. I love that about this site the most because it gives me the freedom to share what I do in more than one place. In my opinion, they rock!

Picture Day

Today is one of my favorite days for my blog. I love sharing photos of the area where I live and my daily life.

Waiting for the bus, Little Dude found a feather.

Getting to the top of the hill so he can run down really fast.

The back of the courtyard looking towards our bldg.

Looking up.

Looking down.

The last one is my favorite. I love this time of year!

In The Studio

Happy Wednesday!

It's the 3rd day into the new format here and I'm loving it. I am more focused and centered on what needs to be done both in the studio and with marketing/networking/social media.

Let's get right to the fun things happening in the studio this week. I've made some peace sign coasters that will get grouted this weekend. I think they turned out really groovy. Here's what they looked like earlier this week.

I finished them up yesterday. I love them!

And I love making useful art!

I'm doing 'double duty' today starting on two new Flower Power projects. One is round and needs time for glue to dry before turning it to continue working on it. In order to keep the momentum going, I've got a nice flat substrate to work on too.

Depending on how quickly these go, I may be working on the next project after this before the week is through. This is an old cutting board my Dad made in a kidney design shape quite popular when I was growing up and again popular now as Retro. And a favorite of mine in design choices.

One it has the mosaic magic on it, it will be Retro wall art. Yay!

The other night I had an idea for a small mosaic for a nursery that will be done on wood. I drew out the templates but may not even use them. However, here is what I've got on the 'drawing board'.

I took a few photos of my tree this morning. It is the time of year when I am watching it, taking photos of it often and sharing its transition preparing for winter. I haven't edited them all yet, but I found one I like so much and thought of the song, Morning Has Broken sung by Cat Stevens. http://youtu.be/e0TInLOJuUM

It's A Brand New Week

It's a brand new week and that means all new projects! Woo-hoo!

First, let me share the newest additions to my Etsy shop.

Mosaic Pitcher, Flowers, Retro, Hippie Decor, Flower Power, Home Decor, Recycled, Reused, Stained Glass Mosaic, Upcycled, Vase

Decorative Pillow Cover, Throw Pillow, Home Decor, Fall, Autumn, Leaves, Nature, Tree, Photo Pillow Cover, Made To Order, September, October

The dot painted bottle is finished and will get listed this week, along with a few flower pots and more pillows too.

"Black Night" will be listed soon
Yesterday I started working on a recycling mosaic project that I think is going fairly well. The most fun I have, in all honesty, is when I pull out the tempered glass, glitter and acrylics!

What do those who don't mosaic see, I wonder, when they look at this photo?
tempered or crash glass

I see mosaic heaven! So many possibilities! Yeah buddy!

I am assuming this will look like a shrine when I'm finished with it because that is what I had in mind. It started its first life as a small wooden jewelry box. A few drawers are missing but I'm going to use them too for some mosaic goodness at some point separate from this.

I've already done a bit of reworking around the sun which has paint that gets glittered up and tempered glass placed over it. I used an iridescent glass as the outline but it just didn't do much for me. I am taking the glass off now and adding ball chain around it. I'll share photos of it as I go.

On a final note: there may be a few days this week and perhaps next week as well, where I will be missing a few posts. School is starting soon and although I'm just the Nana now, I live with the kids and kidlets and as their schedule changes, so will mine. I may discover I have more time to do my crafts once the routine gets established, but this year all 3 grandchildren will be in school, my daughter has changed her work schedule so she will be here when they get home, and I'll have the responsibility of getting them on the bus each day. It will take some adjusting for me as well as for them. Some things, like blog posts, FB visits and marketing in general may get set aside.
