Theme Thursday - Bohemian Flowers

I make a lotus like flower a lot in my mosaics. It's sort of the view from looking down at the flower, more than from the side view. I call these "Bohemian Flowers". That's the vibe that comes through every time, so that's why they are named as such.

I did try making one from the side and it all blended together with the background. It wasn't my favorite attempt at it but it's listed. Just because I'm not in love with it, doesn't mean someone along the way might think it's awesome. I decided it looked more like a lily than a lotus. It wasn't supposed to be a lily but it's what it looks like.

I also like to use what I call "Flower Power Flowers" because they remind me of the flower decals I had all over my walls as a teenager in the late 60's, early 70's.

Below are a few flowers from my Etsy shop. Enjoy!

Tesserae Tuesday

When I work on a 3D project like this birdhouse, I try to use patterns and tess that are easy for me to use. I've covered this beauty with dish tiles and mirror. The roof has ceramic tiles, the sides and bottom have dish pieces and mirror.

Here's what it says in the description on Etsy: Check out this groovy mosaic bird house! Covered in awesome hand cut dish tiles and silver mirror on all sides. Front and back have flower designs, under the tiles roof there are more hand cut dishes; even the bottom is covered. All exposed areas of wood were painted in bright blue and green.

Those who like a garden feeling within their home will love this. Great to gift to someone who has just bought a home. Birthday, wedding, anniversary, retirement, even for a children's room. It fits in wherever you need it to.

This mosaic is for decorative purposes only. Indoor uses. Not recommended for outdoors.

Measures 11 inches high by 12 inches wide from roof tip to tip.

Pretty nifty, huh?
