In The Studio - Part One

Things have quieted down quite a bit In The Studio this week.

I zipped through the rest of the 15" sphere. It's gorgeous and has been placed in the "to be grouted" pile.

I started right in on a sign after this.

I was more than surprised at the fact that I used mauve and yellow on this piece. They aren't "my" colors and I kept thinking I'd use purple and blue.

But I was drawn to the top right color the most. That is what the muse wanted and I'm smart enough to get out of her way and allow her to lead most times. She wasn't wrong. Using it and yellow made this piece very soothing to look at.

Now I've been studying the projects around me, trying to land on something to do next. Mostly I'm resting up for the next wave. In a few weeks I'll be working on a large custom order. I'm really excited about that!! I'll share more once I get going on it.

Meanwhile, I could be working on some small mosaics, maybe the ornaments I cut out a while back for just this purpose. Maybe not ... whatever I decide between now and Friday, I'll definitely share here with you all.

I'm starting to think about my newsletter and what I want it to be. This blog is a great way to share all things I do and I'm grateful to have some people follow along with me here. I'm hoping the newsletter will entice those who aren't reading this blog to do so. My main purpose for starting a newsletter is to share new items I've added to the shops online with links. Once I become more established with it, I hope to make my monthly newsletter something folks look forward to receiving in their email boxes. It should be available during the last week in February.

Have a great week and join me on Friday to see what I've been doing In The Studio - Part Two.

In The Studio - Part Two

As you all may recall, I'm working on adding mosaic flowers to a handmade 15" sphere. It is just about finished getting all the glass glued down. I'm loving this so much! I put the last flower on the sphere yesterday.

Then I painted the open spots with red, orange and yellow plus generously sprinkled silver glitter over the paint.

Once it was dry, I started adding tempered glass in 2 different thicknesses depending on the size of the space to be filled in.

As soon as it's covered with tempered glass, I'll let it sit for a few days to rest. I want to make sure all the glue is dry before I grout. I usually wait to grout until the weekend when things are a little less crazy for me with the family. Leaving grout half cleaned off to go do something for my grandson can often lead to the grout drying too much to clean off properly. Hopefully it'll be ready soon. I can't wait to see it all finished up! I'm excited!!

In The Studio - Part One

As I suspected, working on this 15 inch sphere is taking a while. I've taken photos daily of the work-in-progress. Once it's finished, I hope I can find a proper stand for it. Displaying this awesome sphere could be a bit of a challenge. I love how it's turning out so far!

In The Studio - Part Two

It might get a little quieter from In The Studio for the next week or so. I've got a nice big project I'm working on and it will probably take a little bit of time to complete. No complaints about that! I love to create and this is going to be so much fun!

But first, I'd like to share the glass-on-glass 6 inch plate I put some stained glass on this week. It's about ready to be grouted and will go into the online shop soon!

I love these colors! Iridescent light amber, yellows and orange glass.
I made a sphere a few years back and have had it sitting here waiting for inspiration to hit. It finally has, I'm happy to say and although it will still be taking up some room in my cramped space, it will be a beauty once completed!

This 15 inch ball will get covered in mirror, glass and china in the Flower Power design.

And here we gooooo!!!
