Promo Blast!

Happy New Year!! This addition of Promo Blast! is more of a general announcement.

After pushing mosaics and painted pieces of art around to make room for my almost daily creations of more mosaics and painted pieces of art, I've decided to reduce the prices on most of my items on Storenvy. This is great news for those who have been eyeing a specific piece or two on the site. Yesterday after announcing the reduced prices on my FB Page I made a few sales! Yay! PLUS I got a request for a custom order from my most loyal customer this past year. She is keeping me in art supplies, chocolate and socks. Gotta love that!

Head on over to my shop on storenvy and take a look around. Some of the best deals are in wall art. Many pieces I've reduced by more than half. This mosaic framed mirror, "Finding The Joy", for example was $270.00 and is now marked down to $120.65. Free shipping for those within the US. Woo-hoo!

Finding The Joy

The muse gets grumpy if I don't create mosaics or art every day that I can, which means it's time to reducing prices to make some room for more is the best idea ever!! Almost all items in my shop on Storenvy have been reduced (excludes switch plate covers and jewelry). Check it out!

In The Studio - Part Two

I hope you all are having a nice holiday and are enjoying the season. We are enjoying the relaxation time on the 26th that comes after the chaos on the 25th. It's definitely a day to stay in my jammies!

Santa brought some wonderful goodies for us this year. Nana's stocking was filled with gluten free treats (including brownie mix)!

We got a visit from my folks who came over to enjoy Christmas dinner with us. They know me well and gave me a bottle of wine and some chocolate. They loved their snowflake ornament from Little Dude as well. He beamed with pride when they said how much they loved it. He said: "I made it. Well ... Nana helped ...". He is the best part of every day for me but especially the best part of the holidays.

Little Dude in his elf pj's. Christmas morning excitement!
My folks also gave me a picture I drew some time around 1960-61, which would put me somewhere around my Grandson's age now. I love it!

I gave it to my grandparents and drew myself, Mom and Dad, Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop plus the animals Tommy the cat and Pepper the dog. How fun is this?!
The mosaic gifts I made were well received. Tara and Mark loved their mosaic very much.

The 4 inch mosaic tree ornaments are going to be available for sale as custom orders for next year. How to order yours on Storenvy will be posted here soon. You'll be able to order by color, give me an initial to be put on one side and a tree or dancing star for the other side. I'll take orders all year up until December 2015. If interested ordering early is the way to go!

Over the weekend I will head back towards the making of the mosaic sign. It is going fairly well but I'm struggling to find in my stash the right colors in stained glass to finish it. I'm almost out of that pretty light amber color I used for the center. I'm fairly sure the bottom section will have to be a different color. I'm just not sure what I have that will work with it but I'll figure it out!

In The Studio - Part One

My grandson has begun to give out the snowflake ornaments he and I made.

Don't you love little kidlet handwriting?!
I have grouted all the ball ornaments and they look really awesome. I hope as the children grow they will appreciate them a little more each year.

I glued a bead on top of each one. Really hoping they are secure enough to stay put. But if not, it is easy to glue them back on again.

The background glue is drying on the gift for Mark and Tara. As soon as a few more spots are dry I can grout it. It might cloud up again after it's grout but will dry to clear in time.

I'll share it once it's grouted and share the progress of the sign I'm working on for my daughter and son-in-law in IL. That one will definitely be late this year!

Happy Holidays and enjoy the moments!!

Promo Blast!

Coffee Cup and Peace Sign Mosaic WallHanging - "Cuppa Peace" - FREE SHIPPING Within US -
$52.65
"Cuppa Peace" measures 8 inches.

Using a wooden plaque, this mosaic has broken china nipped up by hand to show our love of 2 things: peace and coffee! Mirrored swirls make a nice depiction of a steaming cup of morning brew.

The back of this wall art has a soda tab attached to it. This plaque is part of a half-dozen donated to the mosaic cause a few years ago. I think the tab gives it a nice touch and a lot of charm, so we left it alone.

Back and sides are painted in burnt umber.

In The Studio - Part Two

For those concerned about my back, it is slowly healing. We're to have snow this weekend, so hopefully by the time it arrives, the pain will be minimal. And thanks so much for the well-wishes throughout the social media sites. I appreciate it very much.

Now, here's the latest news from In The Studio.

I finished up the last of the ornaments for the kidlets! I'm happy with every one of them too, thank goodness.

I'm adding ball chain to them as a final step before grouting. I have done one row and am going to try to do a few more on each one. Once grouted, I may add a bead to the tops of each one. I'm still undecided about that.

Now that they are drying, I picked up the caricature portrait of my daughter, Tara and her boyfriend, Mark and set to work. I finished filling in their faces in 2-1/2 days (from the comfort of my bed!). The background needs to be done and then it too can sit for a few days until glue is dry. This might take a while because I used a white glue that dries to clear but Tara's side is almost dry so it won't take too long, I don't think.

When I was working on Mark's eyes, which took me close to 2 hours because the pieces were so very small, I realized they looked a little like an aliens eyes ready for battle! Changing them was the only thing I wanted to change with this. I think it looks much better now. The background will be done in an opaque white stained glass.

Grout will pull this portrait together nicely. I like how different it looks in the window from on the table. That's my favorite thing about glass-on-glass mosaics.

My skills have much improved over this last year. I can no longer say I just do abstract mosaic art. Not bad for someone who is self-taught. Not bad at all.

In The Studio - Part One

Working In The Studio with chronic pain only slows me down a little. Each day has its obstacles but nothing much stops me.

Back pain means mosaicking from my bed
The stained glass ornaments for the kidlets in my life are coming along really nicely. I've been quite pleased with how they are turning out.

One side has their first name initial the other side has dancing stars or a groovy tree

"R" is filled in with white, "A" in red.

"K" is orange, "J" is pink
"Z" is in beige and has a dancing star on the other side
Once all are finished they'll get grouted
We're almost finished adding glitter to the snowflake ornaments. I am sharing this photo because the sun was shining through my mosaic stained glass window I have placed on the window sill and the colors were coming through onto the glitter. Some days it is really magical in my studio room.
