I wanted to share what I do on the date of my birth every year. Because it is a "new year" for me as I'm one year older and beginning a whole year around the sun at this age until the next time, I use this day as my "New Year". I don't celebrate January 1st as the new year in the typical way, but traditionally we do still celebrate it and it IS a new calendar year. That's why I started giving myself a new set of goals, resolutions and dreams to shoot for starting on September 22nd instead of January 1st. It's a new year for me!
And of course the Autumnal Equinox is on September 22nd. The first official day of Fall. My favorite definition comes from thefreedictionary.com: "Astronomy: the point, lying in the constellation Virgo, at which the sun's ecliptic intersects the celestial equator". It's no wonder I like to design suns, moons and stars and my favorite colors are those we find in the fall season. I was born during a magical time of year.

As I was looking through a box filled with mosaic wall art, I found my old studio sign that I made in 2009! It made me see how far I've come in teaching myself how to mosaic and what tess I like to use the most. Much fell off around the outer edge but there is always something in the studio to replace the empty spaces with!
