Dimensions: Height: 15 Inches
 

This 15 inch mosaic crescent moon has been named "Azure Moon". The mosaic has been done using ball chain, Millefiori, small glass circles, iridescent and stained glass in blue and gold. Truly looks incredible in person.

The design I used is similar to the lotus flower petals I use when I create the flower. Keeping a Bohemian feel to it, this hippie at heart thinks it's simply the best moon I've made in quite some time.

 

This could make someone very happy if given as a gift. It could make you smile every day if you purchased it for yourself. Its shine is unbelievable. Placed near a light source, it will give off rays of light due to the iridescent glass I used.

Placing this with other celestial wall hangings or near decor in the same theme would make this stand out and fit in, all at the same time.

Would make a great birthday gift, anniversary present or wedding gift.

My signature, a peace sign charm, has been added. Back has a D-ring hanger making it ready for the wall. A felt pad has been attached so the painted back will not scratch your walls. Signed and dated.

WIP Wednesday - August Birth Flower: Gladiolus

 I finished up the flowers on this mosaic. You might see, on the printout I used as my guide, the circle in the center. Originally that area was supposed to be a white flower but the stained glass I had wasn't really looking good so I decided to continue with the pink. I don't think it takes away from anything or looks wrong. I actually think it looks pretty good.

The background glass is left over from the larkspur mosaic I made for July's Birth Flower. I'm unsure I'll have enough of one color, so I'll be using both the iridescent glass and the stained glass. This is beautiful glass. The colors are just amazing in the iridescent pieces. I'm looking forward to including it in this.

I think I'll go with the flow making what I call waves with the stained glass for the background. I'll share more next week.

Tesserae Tuesday - Polymer Clay and Friends

Each day I study my shelves filled to overflowing and both give thanks and curse. I have no order to my mess but I know where everything is. Such is the life of an artist. It's been referred to as "controlled chaos". This is especially true when space is limited but inspiration is boundless.

This week I thought it would be fun to show you some polymer clay words I made a few years ago, plus some jewelry that usually ends up in the center of a peace sign as a focal point.

Rumi said it best: Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.

Along with "Do Yoga", "Inspire" and "Meditate" the big square says "wish believe trust receive". That one went along with the "Wish Upon's" I made a long time ago. I thought I'd put this particular piece of polymer clay on a mosaic along with a star. Haven't gotten to it yet. That was about 6 years ago. I'll get there ...

There's also the words "sun", "moon", "energy" and "peace". All pretty groovy pieces to be added to future mosaics in the future.

I'm feeling inspired!

Mosaic Monday - Wine Bottle Mosaic Art

Materials: dish tiles, ball chain, empty wine bottle

Dimensions: Height: 13 Inches
 

One of my empty wine bottles has become a piece of beautiful mosaic art!

The flowers and vines climb around the bottle from the neck to the base. Done in all dish tiles, hand cut to fit, I've made something headed for the recycling bin into a piece of nifty art. The neck has some ball chain wrapped around it, topped with 3 blue pieces of square glass tiles and a flower from the dishes used on the very top. My signature peace sign has been included.

Gift it, keep it, but please enjoy it. I love taking objects headed for the recycling bin or dumpster and turning it into a mosaic.

Would make a great retirement gift, wedding gift, birthday gift, or a just because gift.

Measures 13 inches high.

 The birth flower mosaic is coming along really well. The size is approximately 8-1/4 inches.

I took these photos below yesterday afternoon when the sun was coming through the window. I have to admit, it's going faster than I thought it would. So far I've got 4 hours into it. Another 2-4 will finish it up.

Tesserae Tuesday

 This week I thought I'd share a few little odds and ends I've collected over the years. Not everything will end up in a mosaic, the Snow Babies for example, but I don't have a place just yet to properly show them off. They are in a bowl along with things that might end up in a mosaic. Some day ...

After a few years of mosaic-making, people started giving me their broken jewelry, keys, plastic buttons and so on. I use them when I can but sometimes I have to pull out things to look at them for a while to decide if they will work in a mosaic I want to make.

Some day, as well, I want to try a challenge, taking a grouping like these above and below, and use them all in a mosaic. The hard part for me is finding the right substrate or base to use. I have a lot of things that might work, including old cookie jars and discarded bottles. Working 3D is more challenging still. That's a good thing!

 

 

I sorted the jewelry and odds and ends by color, gold/silver, wood, holiday. It took quite some time but it's worth it.

The dark table makes these items harder to see but you get the idea. Lots of wonderful tess to use whenever I want to use it! Woohoo!

Mosaic alphabet letter B. I used found objects such as buttons, pieces of mirror and added hand cut dishes and glass in blues. Assorted tiles, millefiori glass, half circle glass gems have been placed on this very happy B.

 

Could be used to hang on a door, wall, or lean on a shelf against a wall. I've added a piece of jute for hanging. Back and sides are painted black.

Gift someone on their birthday, or help celebrate a new apartment or home. Adds interest to any room, including an office space.
