I've joined a Photo-A-Day Challenge through theidearoom.net this year. So far, every day this month, I've found some sort of inspiration to follow along with the prompts. Woo-hoo! 11 more months to go!

I have a few favorites for this month and thought it fitting to share them here.

In The Studio

This week has been fairly filled with activity. After taking some time away to rest, I have managed to catch a cold which has slowed me up quite a bit more than I would have liked. It did however produce one mosaic that I am fairly proud of.

This was a discarded microwave plate in a former life. Now it is a piece of mosaic art. It's going to have black grout once complete; I'm waiting for the glue under the rocks to dry before I do that.

Using discarded items and creating art pieces is my favorite thing to do!
Waiting for grout.
I've given this the title: A New Horizon because when I look at it, I see grass, a cliff, a hill in the distance, water and a sandy beach below when I look at it. Can you see that too?

Yesterday I wasn't feeling well at all and spent most of the day resting. However, I didn't want to go a day without doing something creative, so I attempted working on a gazing ball with jewelry bits and pieces and some polymer clay items. Honestly, I took half of it apart before I took these photos below. I still like this part. Now I need to figure out what to do with the rest of it. It is possible that I'll be adding stained glass to it. It can go in any direction and may end up being torn apart more before it's completed.

I like this part but don't really have much else to go with it that I do like. I've added and taken off just about everything I thought would work here. So this sits as it is for the moment until I decide what should go on it next.

There's some exciting news to share here in the studio! I've just been commissioned to do a mosaic sun! This made-to-order mosaic will be 9.5 inches and in beach colors for the customer's kitchen. I showed her a range of colors from previous mosaics and have landed on a palette in between those. Once the supplies arrive, I'll start sharing work-in-progress photos here and on flickr. I ordered some glass but am going to use some I have here in the studio too. I have a lot of blue glass!

Yesterday, I neglected to share the newest items listed in my 2nd Etsy shop! I can't believe I forgot to share them! Aren't they pretty?

Trendy Tuesday

Another Zibbet filled week of delightful finds for my Trendy Tuesday post. Today is a nice assortment in wood. You can find all the shops on my Zibbet blog associated with the site. Check it out!

Wood Collection
I use wood once in a while for my mosaics. Usually I use old pieces from furniture that are no longer useful as it is or something that's been sitting in a box for 10-15 years that was once trendy but no longer is. Here's a great example and perfect for the upcoming holiday, Valentine's Day, to show what can be done with something that needs a face lift. This was originally painted blue, red and yellow and fit very well into my 1990's decor. I loved it but soon grew tired of it; my tastes changed and it really did get placed in a box until I pulled it out a few years ago and made it new again!

Mosaic Hearts
My Mosaic Hearts are the newest listing this morning on Zibbet! Aren't they pretty?? Best thing about my mosaic flowers are they never lose their color or wilt and you don't sneeze if you get too close!

Check This Out!

This might actually become a new weekly post for me on Saturday's because I love to share all the websites I sell my products on! It seems like I spend an extra amount of my time giving Etsy a lot of love. While that is awesome and I will continue to do that, my other shops could use some TLC.

So, Check This Out! is a post today about society6 and some new items they have available. I'm really diggin' the newest item: Wall Clocks!

The frame comes in 3 color choices, Natural, Black and White. The hands color choices come in White or Black. All for $30.00 this weekend with Free shipping through Sunday. Woo-hoo!

In The Studio

In The Studio this week, I've been working on small projects. I finished up the last of the pendants I wanted to work on, although I do have more blanks when the spirit moves me to continue.

Switch plate covers are the new fun things right now. Paint, stained glass and broken china have all had their turn.

I love how the plate above looks so different just by turning it. Cool! I don't know how much to sell these for and I'm not sure I will. I think the ones with grout need resin and I don't have any of that here at the moment. I'm not real good with it but once I practice using it, I'm sure I'd get better. I do need to get some first, though. What price? Does $10-$15 range sound right? I truly have no clue. I did some searching and the range is $10-$40. Because I'm just now experimenting with them, using the lower range in price seems right to me.

I also made a quick mosaic on a piece of wood. It had a hook at the top, which is long lost now. When I can find something here in the studio to replace it with, perhaps an extra sawtooth hanger if I can find one, it should hang up nicely. Meanwhile, it looks find propped up next to me on my shelf.

And finally, I got through the last of the Christmas gifts. I did want to get this finished on time but I couldn't find a place that had the shape I wanted. When I finally did, it was very close to the holiday and shipping took a while. But, it's finished now and might even head out later today if I can remember to give it to the girls to take with them when they go back to their Mom's tonight. This is for my step-granddaughters' half sister. Confused yet?

In other news, I'm adding a few more items to my Zibbet shop now that the Earth Mother shop on Etsy is temporarily closed. The 2nd shop, CindyWhitePhotoArt is still up so far, although I had to change my policies for payments to PayPal which means I had to refund the first sale I had recently when I had Direct Checkout connected to it. I had to take that away because I pay a lab to do the printing on the items and need the sale money in order to do that. With Direct Checkout, you get the money only after you've marked the item shipped. That won't work for me and might cost me even more sales but it is what it is.

It's all good, though, because I can at least still be part of the Etsy community I love so much.

I found a new place to share my mosaics too at shophandmade.com. I have no idea how long it's been around but it's new to me! Nothing new or different has been added, but it is another venue and one I hope will generate a few sales from. Check it out: artbyemmosaics

And here on the blog you can shop direct. Use the tabs above to see what's available. I'm adding items a few times a week to all places, depending on the day.

We had snow, lots of it, here in PA over the past 24 hours. It doesn't look like much from the window, but the schools are closed and the children are here enjoying their snow day. It is so very quiet outside. That's the best part about living where there is snow. It makes everything stop. No truck noises, no one is shoveling yet (it's very cold at the moment) and everyone is inside who can stay home. Gotta love Mother Nature!! She makes everyone stop and enjoy her handy work!

Trendy Tuesday

I hopped on over to Zibbet yesterday and found a wonderful collection by some fine artisans. Check these out!
White Collection
You can find the links and more info on my Zibbet Blog which I'm fairly sure everyone can read. If not, let me know and I'll share as much here as I can next time I do a collection.

Valentine's Day is really only weeks away (yikes!) so take a look at the Art Pendants here and have at them! They are on sale right now at $21.50 each! They all arrive to you wrapped in tissue paper inside a gift bag ready to give or to keep. Every pendant comes with a free chain or choker.

This set is my favorite. It is an abstract pendant that comes with it's own mosaic tin, all for the same price of $21.50!

Promo Blast!

Yes, it's Monday again the day in which is normally set aside for my promo blasts. Today I'm doing a blast for this entire post to introduce a way to shop directly through my blog!

See the tabs above? Not all of them have been added yet, but each tab holds my mosaics and art with descriptions and pricing. Just buy clicking on the "Buy Now" button, you'll go directly to PayPal.

I am positive what you see there now will be changed a bit for the moment, it's set to go!

Although I'm needing rest and don't want to do the full blown promotional, networking, marketing thing, I know I must. My work and my shops truly are one of those "out of sight, out of mind" kinds of shops and that means I have to work harder to make sure they are not forgotten.

To explain why I'm selling here on my blog: I have wanted to do it for a while now, but finding motivation wasn't easy. It came quickly when an outstanding bill on Etsy (almost 21 days old) arrived. Now the shop will be suspended tomorrow.

As many of you know, I pay my online bills with art sales, almost all of them through Etsy. The normal way of life used to be that I'd continue to add or renew items each day and by the time the bill was due, I'd make a sale to pay it. But that didn't happen this time.

This year has started off a bit rocky, eh? My physical difficulties get better as the weather warms slightly now and then, thankfully, and I've been able to make up some pages here on the blog over the past few days.

I'm a tough old bird which means I can still sell my work in other ways to try to get the bill taken care of on Etsy. That means selling on free sites until I do. Hopefully it won't take too long to make a sale but if it does, I may lose my domain name. My moniker has been EarthMotherMosaics for so long, I'm not sure what I'd pick to start over with, but that's not something I have to worry about today. Thank goodness!

I DO have a Zibbet shop and am updating it. The love is there for this site and although I don't give the 2 shops on Zibbet as much attention as I should, this will give me time to do just that.

Because I've had a few panic-sleepless-nights-oh-no-what-will-I-do moments, I'm also sharing my photo art here as well. I might actually, once the bills are paid, close my Etsy shops completely. Time will tell. It might be time to realize it's time for some changes.

So, without any further adieu, please go to the tabs above to look at some items, try out the new "buy now" buttons for me and let me know how it goes!

Would you like to see more than one photo for some items? Feedback is welcome!

Promo Blast! Continues

I have to admit, as much work as it is on my end to gather together info to share in these full blown Promo Blasts, I am having fun sharing my work. I have such an eclectic selection of mosaics and painted items and really marvel at how versatile my muse really is. And it feels like I'm just beginning to tap into it all. That's exciting!

Below are the seven mosaics from Etsy I'm blasting today. Take a look, share what you want, and remember if you purchase any item throughout January and use the coupon code JAN10 you get 10% off any mosaic in my shop!

Mosaic Shrine, Sun, Bohemian Art, Bohemian Decor, Hippie Art, Hippie Decor, Mosaic Art, Recycled, Repurposed, Upcycled, Stained Glass - $250.00

My mosaic shrine is called "Sun Shrine In A Box" using a clever play on words for "shrine" and "sunshine". :)

Measures 7 inches by 8 inches and is covered inside and out, top to bottom with stained glass, china and mirror.

It was once a small wooden jewelry box painted in pink with bright flowers heading towards the dumpster. I have re-purposed it into a fine piece of Bohemian mosaic art.
I used stained glass, tempered glass, ball chain, charms, broken china and mirror on the inside. On the outside I used broken china, mirror and stained glass covering the top, bottom, sides and back.

The sun was painted then sprinkled liberally with gold glitter, covered in tempered glass and outlined in ball chain. The charms hanging from the top are a few broken earrings and really cool odds and ends charms given to me over the years. I added the finial on top and painted it black.

Mosaic Coasters: Tangerine and Lime, Set of 4 - $35.00

*Citrus Slices* Mosaic Coasters.

I've created the look of mosaic citrus slices of tangerine and lime in a 4 inch coaster set. Grouted in white and sealed, these coasters are a great decorative accent as well as useful.

Stained Glass Mosaic, Suncatcher, Green, Red, Light Blue, Upcycled, Recycled, Holiday Decor - $166.50

Measures 11 1/2 inches

This started as a discarded microwave plate we salvaged from the dumpster. Re-purposed, upcycled, reused and recycled is a goal for each mosaic I make. Here is the best reason for my choices. Something once discarded as no longer useful, has a new purpose.

This has a profoundly beautiful fused glass piece in green and red (circa 1985). I've chosen to surround that piece with greens, reds, a little yellow, and some light blue stained glass in hand cut bits and pieces of stained glass and glass gems. Grouted in charcoal and sealed but not waterproof.

Stained Glass Holiday Suncatcher
Purple Glass Mosaic Dish - $30.00

I've added some mosaic magic to an old discarded small glass serving dish. Simple design in varied shades of purple cover the inside giving it an updated look.

Decorative purposes only. Not for long term storage for food or liquids.

Repurposed Purple Dish

After The Holidays Sale ~Reduced by 10%~

Mosaic Vase // Stained Glass // Candle Holder // Green // Red // Holiday Decor // Hostess Gift // Gift Ideas // Mosaic Decor // 7 x 3 inches - $54.00

This is such a pretty Mosaic Vase. From top to bottom this Holiday Mosaic is filled with hand cut pieces of stained glass in shades of green and red in a ribbon design placed around the vase. The colors are perfect for the holiday season. The light play from sun or candlelight is intense and quite beautiful. Grouted in light charcoal and sealed.

Useful and decorative art. Perfect!!

Holiday Vase/Candle Holder

Mosaic Jewelry Box And Pendant Set // Stars // Wishes // Iridescent Stained Glass // Silver Mirror // Glass Pendant // Dreams Can Come True - $55.00

My mosaic star box called "Wish Upon's" was crafted using all hand cut stained glass in black iridescent glass that shines in the light in a range from yellow to purple and every color in between, just like a rainbow. It's absolutely beautiful. Grouted in white.

The sides of the top and the base are covered in silver mirror cut to fit and grouted in gray. An acrylic paint is added to the base as well as small felt feet to protect your furniture when placed on a table or dresser.

Including with this pretty mosaic box is a tempered glass pendant called "WISH" filled with glitter and sparkle perfect for anyone on your gift list this year. This pendant comes with a 20 inch small ball chain silver plated necklace.

This set is so cool. Everyone needs to make wishes!

Wish Upon Star Jewelry Box with WISH Pendant

Mosaic Glass Cross // Stained Glass // Wall Art // Wall Hanging // Home Decor // Bright // Colorful // Gift Guide // Mosaic Scrap Art - $30.00

Mosaic Scrap Art is one of my favorite ways to create mosaics. Tiny bits and pieces of stained glass and tiles that many think are no longer useful can be combined together to make colorful mosaics. I love recycling. Isn't it wonderful?!

Stained Glass Cross

I hope you've enjoyed these blasts. I'll be doing more of them a few times a month but in the meantime, keep a look out for the available items you can purchase right here from this blog. It's going "live" here on Monday! Woo-hoo! Mention seeing this announcement here on my blog and get an additional 5% off of any item sold here on the blog. Just send me an email before you purchase for the adjusted price!

48 Hour Promo Blast!

I'm coming out of my brain fog long enough to have a 48 hour promo blast! Woo!!! A few hours throughout the day, I'll be sharing some mosaics available on Etsy through Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr and Google+. If you would, share the info with your friends and family where ever you can. Sharing is caring! Here we go!!!!!!!!

Today I'm sharing the following 7 items and hope you enjoy the show!

Back to Basics Number One

Mosaic Stained Glass Wall Art // Wall Hanging // Light Orange // Autumn Colors // Fall Decor // Mosaic Wall Decor // Abstract Mosaic Art - $135.00

Perfect fall wall decor created in Autumn colors (my personal favorite). This would make a fantastic housewarming gift or wedding present. And as always, gifting yourself is a wonderful thing to do as well.

This design is available in my other shop CindyWhitePhotoArt as a lamp, blank note cards, pillows, a clock, stretch canvas, tote bag, mug, etc.

Fiesta Owl

Mosaic Stained Glass Fiesta Owl // Shelf Sitter // Colorful // Yellow, Orange, Green // Stained Glass and Mirror // Owl Mosaic // 7 x 6 inch - $40.00

The newest addition to the owl family in mosaic is this 7 x 6 inch wooden owl with the funky feet filled with bright fiesta party colors in yellow, green and orange. Mirror gives him a bit of a sparkle. Isn't he cute?

Colorful and bright. Sides and back are painted in a bright yellow. Perfect for any room or occasion. Cool gift idea!

Blue, Orange and Brown Mosaic Bowl

Blue, Orange and Brown Mosaic Bowl - $55.00

I've added some mosaic magic to an old discarded ceramic serving bowl. Simple design in orange, amber and brown in glass and ceramic tiles cover the inside giving it an updated look.

I'm very proud of creating useful art. Here's a great example of how to recycle and reuse something. By recycling this bowl I've conserved valuable natural resources and saved something that would otherwise be buried in a landfill.

This awesome bowl measures 2.5 inches high and 7 inches wide.

Ice Blue Stained Glass Mosaic Plate

Stained Glass Mosaic Plate // Mosaic Candle Holder // Mosaic Trivet // Mosaic Suncatcher // Ice Blue // Decorative Plate // Housewarming - $40.00

I used beautiful blue stained glass that reminds me of blue ice around the edges of this plate. The center, a variegated glass of blue and white, gives a little detail. All blues makes this soft and perfect for many different rooms in your home.

Makes a great housewarming gift, for a special friend or co-worker, add to your den or guest bedroom/bathroom, college bound students love them for their dorms.

Mixed Media Stained Glass Mosaic Plate

Stained Glass Mosaic Plate: Mixed Media, Blue, Green, Beach Decor, Upcycled, Recycled - $110.00

This started as a discarded microwave plate (with a slight chip/crack in it). Filled with fun discarded items. When I was taking photos of this plate, I kept thinking how much it looked like a sandy beach with odds and ends from the ocean floor. Discarded items all washed to shore. I find this piece a showcase for many items; almost all of them re-purposed including buttons, river stones and two unique broken fused glass pieces. There is so much to see in this small piece of art. It is soothing to look at, very peaceful in design to give the flowing appearance of the ocean.

This plate is meant to be shown in sunlight. I used to call these plates suncatchers, but traditionally suncatchers are hung in the window to grab the light. My plates are heavy and hanging is not recommended nor do I craft them for that purpose. They look fantastic sitting in the window in a display dish holder.

Ice Blue Stained Glass Mosaic Candle Holder

Blue Stained Glass // Mosaic Candle Holder // Vase // Home Decor // Gift Ideas // Hostess // 3.5 inches - $45.00

Beautiful blue stained glass pieces add such a soft, subtle addition to any room in your home. This glass reminds me of water and reflective light. I call it blue ice because it it has bubbles in the glass. This stained glass candle holder is gorgeous.

This 3-1/2 inch glass vessel is covered in pretty hand cut stained glass, even the sides.

Wouldn't this make a great one-of-a-kind housewarming or hostess gift? Wouldn't it be great for the office in your home or at the work place? It holds more than a candle. It could be used for pens, pencils, fresh flowers ... all with a touch of class. Use it at home with a candle for a romantic feeling in your home. The candle light makes the colors of stained glass glow a brilliant luminosity. Sit it in a sunny spot and watch the purple stained glass come alive! It's gorgeous!! It would be a wonderful surprise for anyone's birthday, make a special anniversary or retirement gift.

Fits any decor making it a great wedding gift or a wonderful treat for yourself! This is a mosaic that is functional as well as a useful art piece. Votive and tea lights fit easily in this holder.

Blue and Light Brown Mosaic Bowl
Blue and Light Brown Mosaic Bowl - $58.00

I've added some mosaic magic to a sponge painted ceramic bowl. Simple design in blue and light brown in glass and ceramic tiles plus an Italian stained glass called Smalti are covered to the inside of the sponge painted bowl (circa 1990's).

Decorative purposes only. Not for long term storage for food or liquids.
