The auction last night at tophatter.com was a lot of fun! It lasted about 35 minutes and I had over 1,000 people stop by to take a look. I sold 6 items and although I definitely made no profit, it was a great way to share my things with potential customers. I have to say I got sidetracked a bit when someone popped in and asked how she could bid on the purses! Made me laugh. Some people obviously entered the auction by mistake and this poor woman was quite confused. A nice bidder and myself tried to guide her back to where she needed to go. Some folks weren't happy with the cost of shipping. I have to say I had mixed emotions about this. I sold some items for $1 and because I have to use what I get with each sale to ship the items I couldn't reduce the fees. Should I do this again, and I think I might, I will increase the bidding prices of the mosaics so that I can cut the cost of shipping. I did offer to combine shipping with jewelry but no one thought that was a good deal. And the second thing I'll do is make sure I let them know if I've overcharged and it's more than $1, I will reimburse them. I didn't even think about doing that until the auction was over. 3 haven't yet paid for their items and may change their minds, which is fine with me. I wanted to try this and I did it! Woo! Here's what was purchased (paid for) so far.

I'm happy to know these will be going to a new home. No profit was made but the joy of creating is priceless. That's what I bring to this mix!

And speaking of creating, I worked a bit on the glass-on-glass project yesterday. I'm actually surprised I'm doing so well with it. I didn't think I'd be able to do what I'm doing but I felt I needed to push and grow a little.

I'm not sure where it's going or how long it'll take me, but I'm off to a good start.

The Auction is Here!

Tonight, at tophatter.com, the auction for Earth Mother Mosaics begins at 7 PM EST! Stop by, bid, have some fun. They pace it quickly and don't give a lot of time in between items, so if you see something you want to bid on, jump on it! I'm happy to see that 86 people have RSVP'd on the site so far. For my first time ever to do an auction with this site, I think that's pretty good! And as I always say, every sale is a wonderful thing, which means one sale generated from this auction would be a cause for celebration! Woo-hoo!

Here's the one mosaic that folks have looked at the most:
The bidding starts at $40. I'll be hanging out an hour before the auction starts to answer any questions. Hope to see you there!

I had a long day yesterday, spending 8.5 hours on promotion so today I am focusing on my mosaics and giving myself a bit of a break from the computer stuff.

After dinner and all the marketing/networking/promoting was through for the day, I worked on the 2 crosses. Each is almost entirely ready for grout; there's just a few sides that need tiles. That is the slowest part of these, waiting for glue to dry on the sides so I can turn them.

#4 and #5

#4 - still adding glass tiles to the sides

#5 - almost ready for grout

I've been thinking about working on a glass-on-glass discarded microwave plate for a while. My cousin, bless her heart, gave me a square microwave plate not so long ago. She knows I use them for my art and I love that others think of me as a mini-recycling center! I've never put stained glass on a square one before and I'm way excited to get started. I've been studying my photos and some from my favorite inspirational sites and came up with a collage. I'm sharing it here now because I'm not positive you'll know what it is once I'm finished! I may go more abstract with it which is always a possibility when I create.

This is just a small section, but gives the idea. I printed out a few pages and cut and taped them together. Then taped it to the backside of the plate. This way, I can use it as a template through the glass. I do this technique with most every plate I do if I have a pattern in mind. The marker outlines are a guide to help keep me on track. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't!

It may get put aside a few times or go a completely different way, but it is next in the pile to work on, giving myself a break from crosses and other MDF shapes. I think it might be too ambitious for me but we'll see how it goes. I'm sure I'll share photos of progress and changes as I have them. I expect I might. Wish me luck!

Sales Events Happening This Month

I'm so excited to be having so much activity centering around my shop this month.

Tomorrow night at 7 PM EST, The Tophatter Community Auction Event for Earth Mother Mosaics begins! As this is my first time having an auction, I'm hoping more than a few employees from Tophatter and I show up! Please come and support the arts and have some fun. Some items up for bidding start at $1. Here's another sneak peek of what's in my auction.

Join in the fun and watch with me to see what people bid on and win! I've got 40 items total in this auction including wearable art, home decor and wall art. Mark your calendars for tomorrow, July 10th at 7 PM and come visit and bid!

And the Christmas in July Sale is just about here! Make a purchase on anything in the shop during the Christmas In July Sales Event from July 11th-July 21st and get 10% off. Use COUPON CODE: CIJ10 at checkout. Click on the link below to head on over to Etsy.
CIJ Etsy Sale
As part of this event in conjunction with The Creative Trends Team (shops listed above) I'll be sharing items in treasuries for the duration of the sale, pinning items from these shops and sharing them on Facebook too. Each shop on this team is giving a 10% discount. The Creative Trends Team presents high quality artisan-made items that make wonderful gifts for the entire family. I'm honored to be included in this event with this awesome team!

I've been in the zone with mosaic work on crosses too! The one I showed yesterday is now ready for grout.

And I pulled out 2 more crosses and nipped up some dish shards to work on later today.

These get completed quickly and I'm loving working with dish tiles at the moment. It is a nice break from stained glass.

It looks like I'll be grouting over the weekend! I'm okay with that because I love how grout pulls it all together.

My mosaic, "Grow, Bloom, Fly" has made it to Cape Cod and I am hoping it will eventually go to a nice home who will love it completed as much as I loved creating it! The Signatures Salon Exhibit runs from tomorrow, July 10 through September 1, 2013 at the Historic Highfield Hall in Falmouth, MA. It's a wonderful opportunity to go see some amazing mosaic work by many talented artists and I highly recommend those that are local to the area or are looking for a day trip, take the time to go. Take some time to check out their website and if you are nearby, plan a trip before the Exhibit ends. It's another great way to support the arts and the artists who create it. http://www.highfieldhall.org/

The Auction is Coming!

This week, as a matter of fact! I just got all the items listed and ready to go. I'm positive I need to tweak the titles and maybe some shipping costs because I did some of them very quickly just to get them posted.

And so, here is the announcement: You are cordially invited to a community auction event Earth Mother Mosaics on Wednesday, July 10 at 7pm EDT. You'll get exclusive access to bid on and buy some of my most popular items. See everything that's up for auction here - http://tophatter.com/auctions/25259?type=partner

I hope you all have a chance to stop by and check it out, bid on a few things and have some fun!

I spent a few more days in bed this past weekend but in between naps I finished up a few things I've been working on.

I got the stained glass tiles on the 2nd cross and it is now ready for grout.

I finished up the funky elephant with it's groovy flowers and it too is ready for grout.

And lastly, I got #3 cross almost finished before I had to go to bed last night.

The 4th cross will also have dish shards but I haven't started on it yet.

And over on Etsy, I'm preparing for the big Christmas in July event! That begins on July 11 and runs until July 21. You can receive 10% off all items in my shop when you use CIJ10 at checkout.

While I was sick for most of last week, I didn't keep up with treasuries. I spent this morning sharing each one I was in for the week on Facebook and Pinterest. My items had been in 16 of them! Whew!!

Summer Colds Are No Fun

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. My family and I didn't celebrate it this year, sadly, because we've all been sick with a viral infection; my daughter getting hit with it the worst with bronchitis. I've been spending a lot of time catching up on my favorite shows on the computer and when I can sit up long enough to do things, I try to check in on my favorite social media to say hello.

Yesterday I was feeling fairly good after my fever broke and decided to continue working on my latest mosaic.

Today I'm not feeling as well, so it will wait until I'm ready, to get filled in and grouted. But I do think it's cute!

Big happenings next week, starting on July 10th. I'll be announcing these events often to make sure everyone has the chance to check them out.

Head on over to tophatter.com and join in the fun of my very first auction. Partnered with tophatter.com, this auction will have mosaic jewelry, home decor and wall art. To get a glimpse of what will be auctioned off, here's a few photos.

Join me on Wednesday, July 10th, 7 PM (EST) for my first auction! I'm excited!!

There's a big Christmas in July Sales Event on Etsy from July 11 - July 21. I'll be sharing some favorites from a team called "The Creative Trends Team" that is just forming. There are seven of us sharing each shop and items daily during this time. Promotional love is a very good thing.

While this sale is in progress, when you purchase an item from my shop, use COUPON CODE CIJ10 to get 10% off any item in my shop. I'm bringing back some holiday mosaics during this time as well. Check out the Holiday Shop Section in my shop.

Alrighty then, it's time to go back to bed! Enjoy your day and stay healthy! Summer colds are no fun.

Stay peaceful.

MOSAIC PROJECT: 25 CROSSES

Mosaic Project: 25 Crosses is underway! Woo-hoo!

In case you missed a few posts, I'm planning on doing a holiday craft fair in November at a local church. My plan is to mosaic all 25, 6 x 9 inch mdf crosses, that I purchased for this event. Wish me luck!

Yesterday I did some searching and found the perfect colored tiles to go with the second cross I made and showed a photo of in yesterday's post. I'll share photos of it once it's complete.

Not all of them will have a focal point as #1 does. Some may be filled with dish shards, some will have things like broken earrings placed here and there. Everything I enjoy about mosaics is being used in these crosses. I might even dot paint a few!

I've set up a folder on flickr for this project. If you missed seeing one or two as I go along, bookmark the site so you can go back and see how it's going. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mosaic_queen2008/

I'm still dealing with what we call "the sick" because when my grandson was 3 and I told him he gave me his cold and I was sick, he said: "Nana, I'm sorry I gave you the sick". How cute is that?! Anyway, my crafting time has been very limited. I did manage to get started on the newest mosaic yesterday afternoon when the cold meds finally kicked in. I try to do something every day because it makes me happy.

Hopefully, I'll get back to work on it this afternoon.

News on the Christmas in July events: The Partner Auction at tophatter.com is coming up on July 10th at 7 PM. Sign up and become a member if you're interested in bidding on some of my jewelry, home decor and wall art. I'll be there to answer any questions anyone may have about any of the featured items. As soon as they are up to be viewed, I'll share the link. I do believe you get a small preview before the auction to look around and join it. I've never done this before but I know I'm going to have fun! I'm always up for new and exciting things like this! Woo-hoo!!

And the CIJ Event on Etsy starts on July 11th and runs through July 21st. There will be a Coupon Code for this event + coupons available to those who purchase anything from my shop for our Black Friday/Cyber Monday Event at the end of the year! Nice!

And now it's time to head back to bed for a bit. I'm fortunate that I don't have to push through the day unless I'm needed by the fam. That is a blessing for sure! A few family members have "the sick" too, so we're taking care of each other as family's do.

Stay peaceful.

Monday's News

Happy Monday! I had a fairly creative weekend. Gotta love those! Even though the gbabies decided to share a summer cold with their Nana, I muddled through.

On Saturday I did some dot painting. I was really excited to get started on them and enjoyed every minute!

The elephant was listed this morning on Etsy and the butterfly will be added tomorrow.

On Sunday, I grouted! The custom order is just about ready to go.

And the 1st cross is waiting for the yellow flower brooch.

I also worked on cross #2. I don't have tiles to match to go along the sides yet but I am planning to get some soon. So far putting a mosaic on these crosses has been fairly easy and enjoyable. I am wondering where I'll put them when all 25 are made! I've already used the box they came in for something else. I'm not sure I have wall space to hang them but maybe I should try as the months progress to get them all hung up. Wouldn't that be awesome?!
