I've been busy working on the requested mosaic panels. I have to say, the way I approach making art is a little odd, even for me. I start in on it, THEN decide the design. The colors were decided, so that wasn't hard. But I honestly didn't know, other than the butterfly, what I would add or how until I started getting into it over the weekend. The last photo is of the 2nd panel. All 4 of the remaining panels will have vines and flowers. Only the first panel has a butterfly. However, some of the flowers, after I finished adding them, could be seen as butterflies.
My first attempt, filling in around the butterfly looked cluttered and not at all what I wanted to see. I took the ceramic pieces off and tried again. |
The butterfly will have gray grout, the rest will be grouted in white. At this point I'm considering leave the panels sides and back white but will paint them with acrylics before grouting begins. |
Vines on the second panel. I liked the feeling of the flow finally taking hold. |
Next week I'll share progress and you can always see how it's going on Instagram and Facebook because I always share there as well.
Enjoy the journey.
